Good day to you. I found strange behavior of Display Fusion Taskbar for Microsoft Teams application.
If Display Fusion is working in mode "Show Only Active Windows on Taskbars", then following happens: If I minimize Microsoft Teams window on display, where Display Fusion Taskbar is working (instead of Windows Taskbar) then Microsoft Teams window/icon will disappear from Taskbar, and only left in Tray. However, if I do the same for Windows taskbar, it will neither disappear from taskbar, nor from tray.
Can you please look at it?

Hello,

If you head into the advanced settings in DisplayFusion and enable "Keep Microsoft Teams on DisplayFusion Taskbar When Minimized", does the issue persist?

Thanks!

I'm on Windows 11 Pro (22H2). I have Microsoft Teams ("Teams for work or school", not "Teams for home or small business"). I have enabled the advanced setting to "Keep Microsoft Teams on Display Fusion Taskbar...", but it doesn't work. I have restarted the application and computer many times. :(
Additional info:
Teams is installed in: C:\Users\*my username*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Teams\current\Teams.exe
This is the path in "Application:" for the DisplayFusion Taskbar shortcut
"Force application to start on same monitor as Taskbar" is enabled
In teams settings: "On close, keep the application running" is unchecked
Teams is pinned to the display fusion taskbar
I am on DisplayFusion Pro 9.9, with Windows 11 Pro (21H2) (10.0.22621.0)
I also have Teams as a startup application
I have 1 Windows taskbar on the main monitor and a displayfusion taskbar on another monitor which has Teams pinned.
__
On startup, Teams opens to the main Windows taskbar, rather than the display fusion taskbar.
I move the teams window to display fusion taskbar. Upon minimizing, the Teams window minimizes to Windows taskbar.
I close teams and launch from display fusion taskbar, Teams opens on main windows taskbar.
Any help is appreciated!

I tested this out on my end and it seemed to work fine. Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks for sending that over. We were able to reproduce the inital movement to the current monitor issue, but minimizing still seems to work correctly on the DisplayFusion taskbar.

Could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

"1_02pm_error.zip" contains the problem when minimizing. minimize ~1:02pm
Setup: Teams is pinned and open on the display fusion taskbar. In Teams "On close, keep the application running" is unchecked.
Actions:
  • minimize teams. This causes it to minimize to the windows taskbar
  • maximize teams by clicking on teams in the windows taskbar. This causes it to maximize in windows taskbar screen
  • move teams back to display fusion window with shortcut (shift + windows key + right arrow)
I have found a fix but it is temporary and does not survive closing Teams. The problem seems to be related to the "On close, keep the application running" setting and toggling it seems to solve the issue.
Method to fix:
  • Current state: Teams minimizes to wrong monitor. "On close, keep the application running" is unchecked.Teams is pinned to display fusion taskbar and is open on the display fusion taskbar window.
  • Check the "On close..." setting in Teams. "Close" Teams by pressing the x. Teams will minimize into the notification area.
  • Click on Teams in the display fusion taskbar. Teams will open in the Windows taskbar screen.
  • Uncheck the"On close..." setting in Teams. Close Teams by pressing the x.
  • Now, clicking on Teams in the display fusion taskbar will open it to the correct window and will also minimize to the display fusion taskbar.
  • However, after closing Teams, it will again open and minimize to the wrong taskbar.
After performing the fix, I captured minimizing Teams to the correct display fusion taskbar. 1_43pm_correct.zip minimize ~1:43pm. To be clear: I performed the fix, cleared the log, and only captured minimizing to the correct display fusion taskbar.

Thanks for sending that over, could you update to our latest beta and send over another log when it fails? Here's the link: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/

I have installed the beta and recreated the error.
  • log cleared, start with Teams on display fusion taskbar open.
  • clicking minimize moves it to the windows taskbar
  • click on icon in windows taskbar to maximize in same window
  • move over back to display fusion taskbar with windows + shift + right arrow
The temporary fix described in the previous post still works in beta.
Thanks.

Thanks for sending that over. I'm still having no luck reproducing this, I'm going to add it to our list to look into. We'll let you know if we need any more info.

Thanks!
