This has largely been a non-issue until maybe a couple of months ago or so. I don't know if this is specifically a DisplayFusion problem or a problem with the app. I think it's a DisplayFusion problem.
A lot of people don't know this but if you middle click on many things, it will open a new window to the thing, or close it. Whether it's a link in the browser, a taskbar button, or an open tab. I use this a lot. If I were to open an app from my task bar with left click, with the app open, middle clicking on the link again creates a new window.
However, I noticed that when middle clicking on the multi-mon taskbar icon for my browser (Brave), rather than opening a new window for the browser, it opens a new tab in the most recently active Brave window to the url "default." It does the same thing with Chrome. Edge on the other hand does nothing at all when middle clicked. Firefox (my previous browser) works fine and opens a new window as expected. And as far as I know, no other apps have had this problem and either opens a new instance or doesn't at all (for apps that doesn't support multiple windows).
Could this be fixed?
