Greetings..

Let me start by saying I have read the list of known issues, as well as looked through the current discussions for this behaviour. I think I understand what is expected to happen with the current version (8.0 beta 4), but there is something about this that I haven't seen anyone else describe yet.

My setup involves three monitors, which (before Nvidia Surround) are configured in the order of
[2][1][3]
, which makes the middle one my "primary monitor". I should also note that I do not use the multi-monitor taskbars from DF, since I prefer to have my taskbar span the entire top of my desktop, across all three monitors.

So, from the list of known issues: yes, my Start Menu does indeed move to the middle monitor when I open it, but I do not need to do a text search and it only happens if my mouse cursor is on the middle monitor.

To summarise, as I open the Start Menu...

* ...if my mouse is on the left monitor - the Start Menu stays on the left.
* ...if my mouse is on the middle monitor - the Start Menu moves to the middle.
* ...if my mouse is on the right monitor - the Start Menu stays on the left.

In between testing these three scenarios, I reset the menu position by moving my windows taskbar to either the bottom or the left and opening the Start Menu. At which point I discovered that the position of the taskbar makes no difference at all.. The above points still apply even if my taskbar is vertical on the left side of my desktop.

[edit]: Initially I thought this only happened when I searched for something, but all I need to do is open the Start Menu. I've adjusted the description above to reflect this.

This does have one minor unintentional benefit though: if I flick the mouse to a side monitor before I whack my Windows key and start searching, then my Start Menu stays where I want it. Every now and then when it does catch me, it's easy enough to just move the taskbar and launch the Start Menu again.

As I say, I'm not sure if anybody else has discovered and/or reported these caveats to the current "known issue", so hopefully this will help with debugging it and finding a solution.

For what it's worth, I have attached a copy of my troubleshooting information so you can see my exact DF configuration and system info. I also work professionally as a software tester, so if you need any help with testing issues, I'm definitely willing to help. Keep up the awesome work, your apps are brilliant quality... :)

That's definitely one we haven't run into before! In the Monitor Configuration window, if you disable the "Taskbars" checkbox in the "Use these features with splits" section, does that make any difference? You may need to restart the computer after disabling that option.
