Good morning

Your Monitor Fading function is really great because I often have 30 or more open windows - and Fading allows us to keep the focus on one window.
I have two ideas to improve it:

1) It would be useful if we could have an additional Fading Mode: Fade everything except Top Level Windows
With Top Level Windows, I mean: any Windows which is not overlapped by another window.

The current mode "Fade everything except current Window" allows to focus to work with one application, e.g. reading something or write a document.

This additional Mode would allow us to create an advanced (multi application) Focus-Working environment and e.g.:
- Place two Applications next to each other on one Monitor and keep both unfaded
- Place more than one Applications on different Monitors and keep them unfaded

2) It would be useful if we could enable that the fading algorithm only hanldes Parent Windows
At the moment, if fade everything except current window is active and the current Window open a child GUI Element, then the Focus is changed to this GUI Element, please see attached Image: 2018-08-09_11-52-23.png

It would be great if we could enable a flag,
so that the fade algorithm only handles GUI elements which have the desktop as its parent.

Thanks a lot for your great tools!,
kind regards,
Thomas

Thanks for the feedback! I've added these items to our list and we'll be sure to let you know if/when we're able to implement them.

Thanks!

It's been 2 and a half years... Has this been implemented yet? (the second one)

Hi Dylan,

Unfortunately for #2, there are some technical issues that make it very unreliable, so we won't be able to add it in.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

If you can't get needed data from Windows through an API, create your own grouping system that gets the needed data from the user through UI. I can imagine Display Fusion letting me click on the child windows and click on the parent to create a "group". When one window in the "group" is active, all windows in the group become unfaded. Even If you cant detect child windows at all, you could at least let the user select a rectangular region of the screen to unfade. Yes the region would not respond to the movement of windows, but this feature is redundant for people who use monitor fading, becuase they have multiple monitors for the sake of having static window layouts.
