So after I installed the beta earlier today, I noticed the resolution on all 3 different wallpapers I have for 3 different monitors just looked awful, with obvious color banding on top of the poor image quality. Changed to a config that only had one of the monitors active and boom, the exact same wallpaper instantly looks like it "should". The same thing happened with all 3 wallpapers/monitors individually.

As soon as I go to one of my multi-monitor configs, however, it seems as though some setting is getting tripped to mess up each wallpaper's "sizing" or something, because it goes back to being super grainy/color banding on each monitor. I noticed when I tried to edit the configs, it seemed like each had their "sizing" default to Centre, which I never ever use, and when I try to switch it back to the usual "Fit Best...", it sits on "Applying Wallpaper Settings" forever, then eventually the box goes away but when I bring the Wallpaper config menu back up, it's set on Centre again.

If I'm explaining this poorly, here is a slider comparison for the exact same wallpaper on the exact same monitor, only the first version is when multiple monitors are active and the second version is when it's the ONLY monitor. Obviously it's not perfect because I did a quick screen snip as best as I could but you can at least see the obvious color banding in the first version.

Windows has a max wallpaper size, so the more monitors you have the higher the image size, which means we need to compress it to fit within the limit. There isn't much we can do there, but we do have some changes coming in our next beta to hopefully help the compression a bit.

Could you send me a log for the sizing mode reverting? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and then click "Clear Log"
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

nevermind, I just uninstalled the beta and reinstalled the official release build and it's fixed. So it 100% was something with the beta because I'm looking at the exact same 3 monitor config now (with all 3 monitors active) and they all are back to their "only 1 monitor active" image quality in the beta. Definitely not an issue of compression or program limitations because an older version of DF is doing it 100% accurately.
