Hello,

I just updated to DisplayFusion Pro 10.0 Beta 18 from Beta 17.

In Beta 17, I had my monitor configurations working great with my 3 monitor setup. I had 1 profile where my main monitor would use HDMI, and then another profile where my main monitor would use Displayport. I would switch to either one depending on my usecase and it worked fine with Windows correctly setting my Primary Desktop.

I updated to Beta 18, deleted my saved monitor configurations and setup up new ones exactly like before, but now 1 of the new saved monitor configurations is not loading correctly. It loads mostly fine, but then DisplayFusion does not properly set my main monitor as my Primary Desktop in Windows like it did in Beta 17.

In short:

Beta 17 -> This worked great:

-Profile 1: Monitor 1, Monitor 4 (Primary Desktop + HDMI), Monitor 3, Monitor 2 (Disabled)

-Profile 2: Monitor 1, Monitor 2 (Primary Desktop + Displayport), Monitor 3, Monitor 4 (Disabled)

Beta 18 -> Something gets borked:

-Profile 1: Monitor 1, Monitor 4 (HDMI), Monitor 3 (Primary), Monitor 2 (Disabled)

-Profile 2: Monitor 1, Monitor 2 (Primary + Displayport), Monitor 3, Monitor 4 (Disabled)

Any help on this would be great! I will probably revert back to Beta 17 to the old way of doing Monitor Configurations. Thank you!

Strange, if you try saving that profile with monitor 1 as the primary, does that work when swapping? I'm curious if it's swapping the primary monitor in general, or if it's something specific with swapping to monitor 3.

Thanks!

Hmm very strange! I created another profile (Profile 3) with the same settings as "Profile 1" but changed the primary desktop to "Monitor 1" instead like you suggested and that functioned properly. And now, when I switch back to Profile 1, it sets Monitor 4 as the primary desktop like it is supposed to and like it did in Beta 17.

And, even more curious, when I delete Profile 3, and try to switch back to Profile 1 afterwards, the same error as before is occurring. But I just realized if I set my Monitor Configuration to my Profile 1, let it load, and then select it again, it works.

So this is what works:

#1. Create a Profile 3 with Monitor 1 being set as primary. Now Profile 1 loads normally. Profile 2 still works normally.

#2. Reload Profile 1 twice. Profile 1 works after 2nd time. Profile 2 still works normally.

Actually, only #2 works. It seems like in Beta 18, DisplayFusion is having trouble switching on the disabled Monitor 4 (HDMI). All of my monitors are connected via Displayport. Only Monitor 4 is on HDMI.

This is what seems to be happening:

-At all times, Displayfusion has no trouble switching to my Profile 2, that uses all Displayport connections.

-Also at all times, Displayfusion has no trouble switching to (new) Profile 3, that uses Monitor 1 as my primary desktop.

It looks like this:
Profile 3: Monitor 1 (Primary Desktop), Monitor 4 (HDMI), Monitor 3, Monitor 2 (Disabled)

-Profile 1 will only load correctly on the first try if I am already using Profile 3. I believe this is because Profile 3 has my HDMI monitor in it and is detecting it as not disabled by Windows.

-Profile 1 will load correctly if I load it twice. I am guessing that is because doing it once re-enables Monitor 4 in Windows. The second time sets the correct primary desktop like normal.

When I try to load Profile 1, whenever it doesn't work the first time, for a moment it seems like it is trying to apply the primary desktop to the correct Monitor 4, and flashes my desktop icons on there for a moment, but then it switches to Monitor 3 by default.

Hopefully this makes sense. Thank you for your help!

Okay interesting, we'll play around with this on our end and see if we can reproduce it. We'll let you know if we need any other information.

Thanks!

We've released a new beta that might fix this up, can you try it out and let me know if the issue persists?

Thanks!

Hi! I downloaded and installed Beta 19 but still have the same issues as described above. Thankfully I am still able to workaround this by applying my monitor config twice.

I will remake my monitor configuration and restart my computer and report back when I can.

Thank you for checking in :)

Can you try adjusting this advanced setting to 5000ms and see if it makes any difference: https://www.displayfusion.com/AdvancedSettings/?Version=9.9.99.119#monitorconfiguration_delaybetweenmonitorstepsms
