Hello everyone,

I'm having an issue with my 2021 ASUS ROG G15 Zephyrus laptop (running Windows 11). Whenever I switch monitor profiles in DisplayFusion from my LG C1 (set to 4K resolution @ a 120hz refresh rate, connected via HDMI to USB-C) to my ROG STRIX XG27AQ 1440p (170hz) monitor + built-in G15 display (165hz), my laptop restarts. However, when I switch from the inverse, I don't have this problem. It seems that I only experience it when going from 4K to 1440p via monitor profile switch.

My laptop is equipped with an NVIDIA 3070 mobile graphics card, and my 1440p monitor is a ROG STRIX XG27AQ. I keep DisplayFusion updated to the latest version. Something to keep in mind is the way I have my monitor profiles set up. When I'm using the LG C1, my 1440p monitor and my laptop monitor are disabled. But when I'm using those two, I have the C1 disabled so as not to have an extra screen where open windows or my mouse cursor might get lost in.

In addition to the information provided, it is worth noting that the 4K resolution on the LG C1 is set to a 300% UI scaling rate and is in HDR.

I've tried updating my graphics card driver and making sure my laptop's power supply is sufficient for running the LG C1 at 4K resolution, but the problem still persists. I'm not sure what else to try at this point, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... but I'm guessing it's a driver/handshake issue?

Has anyone else experienced this issue before, or does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing it? I suspect it may have something to do with compatibility or driver problems, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm open to any suggestions or troubleshooting tips that anyone may have.

Thank you in advance for your help :)

If you re-save the profile with the C1 not disabled, and then switch, does it still reboot?

Could you also send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Hey Owen,

Apologies for the delayed response. Unfortunately, the issue I mentioned earlier is still persisting. However, I've attached the troubleshooting log for you to review, in hopes that it might provide some useful insights into the root cause of the problem.

If you have any further thoughts on potential fixes or solutions, please do let me know! I'm becoming increasingly desperate for a resolution to this troublesome monitor-profile-switching issue with DisplayFusion - it has been a major source of frustration lately. I'm beginning to wonder if the problem could be related to scaling. Perhaps the Windows UI scaling, which jumps from 300% (on my C1) to 150% (on my 1440p monitor) during the switching process, could be the culprit?

Thank you once again for your assistance!

It's certainly possible, you can try creating a profile at 150% scaling and see if it still reboots when switching to that.

Could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log
