I am experiencing a recurring issue that when I open a program it doesn't show up, but then if I look closely I see the very edge of the window on the border of my left monitor, with 95% of it not visible and off to the side. I then have to grab the side of the window and resize it, so that there is enough of it to now drag it back into view.
I cannot say with 100% certainty but I think this only happens when I have monitor profiles in use. Any suggestions?
Thanks

File attached, thanks Keith. In case relevant, the issue was occurring as I exported this. I also notice that when the issue occurs, some of the custom commands don't work correctly, probably not surprising.

Thanks! So the windows are opening up off the left of the 4K monitor that's split into 2x2?
Ok, interesting! Are you opening the application via the Start menu, or a taskbar shortcut?

The application loads with windows. If I change profiles or settings I do so from the taskbar. But for practical purposes it loads with windows and I always just keep it on the same profile.
There are other issues too. Sometimes when I change profiles the change is smooth. At other times DF wallpapers disappear and windows wallpapers show up momentarily, then the DF wallpapers start to populate but on the wrong screens, then after about 10 seconds they all orient correctly. I'm not sure why sometimes switching between profiles is smooth and other times a 30-second process.
I also had one hell of a time setting up profiles and getting them to work and sometimes monitor numbering order would change right to left (normal is 123 but then it would be 132). Bottom line is it was like settings were conflicting or not being seen properly between windows and DF.
I could be wrong but it now appears it is this one (primary) profile that has the issue. And the weird thing is it was working fine at first along with the custom commands. I suppose I could delete it and create it again but it was so painful getting it to work in the first place I was hoping to avoid that.
If you disable DisplayFusion from startup (disable "Start with Windows" on the Settings > Options tab), then reboot, does the app still open off the screen?

I've had this same problem since i first started using DF on Windows 10 (currently running 1809).
In my case, DF always starts with Windows, and multiple monitor profiles are in use.
The primary display is a 4k display, which I often change to 1080p for streaming, or game playing.
if I have an app, or program open when in 4k, and it's not in the upper left quadrant of the screen when I close it, it will open up outside the 1080p viewing area, but inside the 4k viewing area. (eg at 1080p, such a program will show up either completely, or partially off screen, and I have to trick Windows into letting me move it back to my screen with the keyboard.)
This happens whether opened from the start menu, taskbar, or the desktop, and is actually the most major issue I have with DF. Love this program!
Note that the "Move all windows to current monitor" function doesn't correct this problem.
Edit: Removing DF from windows startup, and rebooting also doesn't prevent this behavior.

Yeah, that sounds like an issue with Windows not putting the application inside the current work area. If you assign a key combination to the "Move Window to Center of Monitor" and run that on the window that's off the screen, does that bring it back?

I tested this approach on Notepad++, which started halfway off the screen. It moved the window to the center of the current monitor.
I haven't had any completely off screen since I posted to this thread, but I will test on one of those next time I get one. my guess is that it should work.
As a feature request, is it possible for you to add a function that does the exact same thing to all open windows, and/or is there a function that moves newly opened windows to the center of the current monitor?
I'll post something to windows 10 feedback hub about windows appearing off screen, after resolution change

It's an old thread I know, but...
With Win 11 Pro I find that when I run Group Policy Editor and select a value to edit, the windows that gets spawned opens off the left side of my second monitor. It's an intermittent problem. Found that out by sheer chance today, but it's been an issue for weeks and I suspected the window went to the back and couldn't be restored!
Alt-tab doesn't show the popup window either.
So...I tried the suggested approach of configuring a trigger as above but find that it makes no difference.
Gpedit still launches at the same size and position.
Any ideas?
Or maybe a way to stop windows disappearing off the edge of a screen, like a hard border?

Could you send me a screenshot of the trigger you created?

Sorry can you send me a screenshot of the "Edit" window for that trigger?

I have a similar problem. When I conduct -wake up from sleep- many windows are completely off screen. Cannot Alt-Tab to them, and they do not show up in any taskbar/s either. Can be hundreds of windows.
What I was finally able to do is ...here's an example running, say, Firefox (and keep in mind, I have no way to do this using Windows since I cannot somehow select the window using any method I have yet found in windows)...
- Open a New FF window
- Using an extension that lists all the open windows by "window title" so I can identify a window and then select it (winger)
- I select that window to "make it active. It works, but I still cannot see it, nor can Windows indicate anywhere that I have acrtually achieved this; however...
- THEN I can issue a Windows move command: Alt-Space-M ! Here's a sequence...
- - If I issue "Alt-Space" I see the "popup menu" appear for that target window. I see it on one of the screens, typically the one where the window is outside the viewable desktop zone
- - SO IF SAY... I see the popup appear near a particular edge of a monitor, for instance, say it appears Near the "Bottom" of a screen... THEN, when I press "M" part of the command ...I can then use the cursor keys to bring the window UP INTO VIEW on that monitor desktop. If I see it off to the right edge, I arrow key LEFT to bring the window into view, etc
- I do this for each window to bring them back onto the/a screen.
- If I am able to change the display resolution to "higher" on a specific monitor, I can then sometimes see portions or all of windows off that monitor "port" when it was in smaller resolution mode. But changing resolutions like this is not always available.
- Once I get the windows back onscreen, and thus normally accessible, I use a script to move them from the current monitor back to the monitor where they were originally / suppposed to be.
Again, it can be hundreds of windows -its an exasperating issue.
--- end of example ---------
Huge PITA ...happens all the time. I have been trying to figure out a way to "detect windows off-screen" so they can then somehow be auto-pushed back onto the screen en-mass, but I have found no way or tool to accomplish this.
NOTES:
- There is one thing... some utilities out there can identify all open windows and provide x/y co-odinates ...and then you can determine the ones off-screens that way, but its damn near impossible to make use of this manually. The above method is easier.
- If I turn off DF, then they all appear on the primary monitor, but then when I relaunch DF I have tons of cleanup for arranging all my windows (about 1400) the way I need all over again... its just not worth the effort. Not only that, sometimes some of those windows that were offscreen still end up offscreen after relaunching DF anyway.
::sigh::
---- end notes -----
Finally found this thread, thought I would chime in.
Unfortunately for me, since I am using Win7, DF v9 is as high as I can go, i.e., no more upgrades for this platform. I paid for DF anyway since I find a number of functions I don't want to live without, and I have done a lot of custom scripts that help me through limitaioons I have encounter ;^) Just not this one.
Bottomline, I wish I could find some tool, or a method via scripting, that could detect when/if a window is located offscreen from a (specified /or all) monitor/s, and not just "when you launch an application" but anytime you need to run a "detect and retrieve" scenario, like after wake from sleep.
I have tried to somehow use a move windows script to access these, but I need to spend more time figuring out if this is even possible.
I hope this added info helps lead us to something we can do. I looked everywhere in the custom scripts area for clues, but failed to find any scripts containing a process for detecting windows outside the screen-display or desktop area.
