Unlike this post https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/displayfusion-incompatible-with-quicken/?ID=e1760d51-d43b-408f-a408-757a08003293, Quicken (2017) works, but when I change the focus to another application, I have to click the Quicken Taskbar (default Windows 10 taskbar) 3 times to bring it back to focus (and it's very slow and flashes when it does load). As indicated in the previous post, I disabled hooks (and a bunch of other settings) to no avail. If I exit DisplayFusion, this behavior goes away.

I have similar issues with other applications that I have long since thought were caused by DF, but this is the first one is reproducible so frequently and so a radical difference in performance when I exit DF.

Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! Everything looks ok there. I've tested Quicken 2017 here and ran into this issue once when the One Step Update was running, but haven't been able to reproduce it since. Is there a set of steps that will reproduce it every time on your system?

Not specific steps - but it sometime it doesn't happen when I first open Quicken. Inevitable, and most of the time when I actually try it, it happens and pretty consistent as well.

Again, this is not the only app that does it - I just had it happen with an explorer window (clover, but I've seen it with explorer as well), but with Quicken, much more frequent.

Ok, interesting. Are you able to reproduce it every day? If so, would you be able to try running without DisplayFusion for a day to see if the issue still pops up? It sounds similar to a Windows 10 bug that's triggered by applications that set windows topmost, and with that one, exiting DisplayFusion fixed it temporarily because unloading the taskbars force a desktop work area refresh. I'm wondering if the issue will still crop up over time even without DisplayFusion running.

Yes

haha, ha,

I guess you are not joking. That would be such a pain, that I might just rather live with the problem (and if you are right, there is no solution...I've already tried the no topmost DF setting).

Haha, well, I guess it's good that DF is that integral in your workflow! :)

I've only ever seen this type of issue caused by DF if the taskbars are on the side, and the TOPMOST advanced setting has always fixed it. So, I suspect that you're running into the same issue, but caused by another application on your system. As mentioned earlier, restarting DF resolves it temporarily because it causes Windows to update its work area. I have no idea why that resolves the issue, but here we are. So, a quick "fix" when it starts happening is to restart DF, or even just disable/re-enable the DF taskbars.
