Hello , hope all is well :)

As the devs are really nice and cool people and love having extra work due to pain-in-the-butt geeks like myself having stupid custom setups, could you allow us via an advanced setting to add custom keys for Keybinding/Scripting purposes :|

Something like "Allow Custom Keycodes For Hotkey Keybinding/Scripts"
and we could have a list 255;254;253 or whatever.

Prior to the beta update, Scancode 255 was accepted as a valid key which is my main issue at the moment.

(a) I use a Logitech G510s and have customised the language layout for certain keys to better fit my worflow.

One of main keys I use which is customised is the the Right APPS key but I changed the Language Layout scancode/VKey code to 255 as I have never used the APPS key for it's intended purpose of Right-Clicking something. It's been my Option Key for years now.

Basically, it activates the Options/Preferences window of whatever active app under the mouse cursor is. But I've had to bind every application I have to that key for the Display Fusion scripts/triggers to work in tandem with them. It mainly moves and resizes those Option windows automatically for me :/

(b) I also have a G600 and G13 with custom keycodes mapped to the G-Keys for certain application profiles.

I know it's a very niche setup but I've been using my setup for years now yet I'm trained to it now and my muscle memory just hits those keys to do stuff in certain apps.

Thanks and all the best :)

We should be able to fix that up if it was working in 9.5. I'll check in with our devs to see what's up there.

Could you enable debug logging and grab a log from when you try to apply that hotkey setting?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the error and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Here you go, attempted hotkey rebind "Open DisplayFusion Settings" to 255 should be around 2019-12-03, 03:16:10 :)

We've just posted 3.6 Beta 2, and this should be fixed up now. Please let us know if not.

Thanks!

Yes, my weird hotkeys are bindable now, cheers! :D

There is a but though, I am unable to bind any hotkey with all 4 modifiers active (Shift,Ctrl,Alt,Win + <any key>), this throws up exactly the same error prompt as my initial post :(

I've gone through all the normal keys A-Z, 0-9, Numpad, etc. and haven't assigned these hotkeys in any other software running. Any combo of 3 modifiers works just fine, it's only when all 4 modifiers are selected :/

I've attached a screengrab and logfile, attempted hotkey rebind should be around [2019-12-14 04:01:00] "Move Mouse to Centre of Primary Monitor" to <SHIFT><CTRL><WIN><ALT> + C

Thanks again for sorting the initial issue out :D

There's actually supposed to be a different error message for that :)

Windows only allows 2 modifiers on global hotkeys. I've added a bug to our list to fix up that error message.

Thanks!
