The function to Save Window Positions, is there any way to save this by profile?

I use a laptop at work with multiple monitors as well as at home with multiple monitors. Ideally, I'd like to be able to hit Save Window Positions (Work) at work and Save Window Positions (Home) at home.

When I dock my laptop at either location without rebooting, I'd like to be able to hit the respective button and it restore window positions based on that location's saved window positions. This is on Windows 7 Enterprise.

Thanks!

There isn't at the moment, sorry. If we're able to add it in a future version, we'll be sure to let you know!

+1 for this feature. It was one of the things I was hoping this product could do when I purchased it. It would be great to be able to dock the laptop and then automatically have the monitor profile load and place all my windows in a set location on all the monitors.

This is the feature I downloaded DisplayFusion for, but apparently it's not actually implemented.

Switching monitor setups seems like the obvious use case for window position save / restore, but without per-monitor profile saves, you'll always be stuck manually arranging windows on all but one profile.

Window Manager appears to have per-profile window save / restore with triggers, though the overall polish of the site is not confidence-inspiring.

Windows is suppose to remember positions by default, but it's been broken since Windows 8. One available tool that fixes it is shellfolderfix.

We're talking about all application windows, not just Explorer folder windows.
Neither Windows nor shellfolderfix remember app window arrangement across monitor profile switch.

Then, you need to create triggers and functions. I guess the devs could add a an if=else (detect a docked laptop) option within triggers under Frequency or Actions. Otherwise, you can setup display profiles and call out the trigger for which application window goes where. I have four displays and it works quite well, even when I disconnect one of them.

The new Window Position Profiles feature may be more what you're looking for. It's available in the current 9.2 Beta, and if you have any feedback, we'd love to hear it!
