Hi - Am using the DF 9.5 beta 1 and Win10 pro x64 v1809. Am new to the product and have several questions if someone is willing to indulge me....

Is it possible to have the start buttons match? I'm using Classic Shell to use a win95 image file for the start button on monitor 1.

Is it possible to show the Search magnifying glass also on monitor 2?

Is it possible to show my Links Toolbar icons on monitor 2? Or maybe there is a workaround to get these shortcuts on taskbar 2 some other way?

I very much prefer the DF clock to the windows clock because it can include date and day - any way for the DF clock to also show on monitor 1?

I'm curious as to why the tray icons are different sizes on the two taskbars, and wonder if I can have them be the same size.

None of these are that big of a deal to me other than the links toolbar, but figured I would ask. Thanks!

Edit: I figured out how to simulate the links toolbar by just adding taskbar shortcuts and using custon icons instead. Unfortunately though these shortcut icons are spaced quite far apart. Just as with the tray icons, the DF (monitor 2) taskbar shortcut icons are about 25% bigger than the primary taskbar links toolbar icons and on top of that they are horizontally double-spaced. So I guess the question is can that horizontal real estate used by taskbar shortcut be reduced?

Thanks for any help!

  • The DisplayFusion taskbar should use the Classic Shell button if you fully restart DisplayFusion. If not, could you send me the image you're using for the Start button?
  • It's not currently possible to add the Cortana search to the DF taskbar. It is on our list, but no ETA.
  • The DisplayFusion taskbar doesn't currently support toolbars. Also on our list but no ETA.
  • DisplayFusion can't override the clock on the Windows taskbar. You could use something like TClock though.
  • If you logout/login to Windows, are the tray icons still different sizes? If not, could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? (steps below)

Here are the steps for the troubleshooting info if needed:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for your help.

Attached is my classic shell start button icon (main taskbar on bottom). Restarting DF still does not show it. I made the file myself so I probably did soemthing wrong.

I added a cortana search shortcut using a custom icon and a shortcut to
explorer.exe shell:::{2559a1f8-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}, so all set there

No problem with not supporting toolbars since shortcuts work just as well, I was just hoping to have them closer together like on the main taskbar in the attached pic

T-Clock works great, thanks for the tip. I've finagled to get the two clocks almost identical, although the DF clock has a gap between the upper and lower parts. Can live with that. Checking "show clock on both displays" within T-Clock does not work, I'm assuming because the DF clock overrides it.

The tray icon size issue is not really an issue more of a curiosity as the icons are really not all that much bigger on taskbar #2 than taskbar #1, but here is the troubleshooting info in case you are curious.

One other question. The only titlebar button I use is Move Window to Next Monitor and I use it a lot. However the button it takes a couple seconds to appear when a window is opened. Is that delay always the case? And is it possible to instead of using that button, to save the real estate by having a "double-click on open space on the titlebar" result in moving the window to the next monitor? (I am used to that with Actual Multiple Monitors)

No worries, thanks for the extra info! I can't get your custom button to work either, but I'm not sure what's specifically wrong with the image. I'll check in with our devs and see what I can find out.

Re: moving windows to the next monitor, if your mouse has a middle button or scroll wheel, you can click that on the titlebar of a window to move it to the next monitor.

We've just released 9.5 Beta 2. This custom button works now, but we couldn't get it to size exactly right, sorry :(

Just loaded 9.5 Beta 2 and restarted and noticed I cannot get into settings. When trying to enter settings it just hangs there for maybe 30-40 seconds showing you the DF logo picture and then the logo disappears but the settings window never appears. I wil start a new thread about this

I'll have to play with the start button, but as you said right now the DF button is much smaller so I may have to stick with the classic shell default, which is fine

Strange about the settings window! Is it still broken after a reboot?

Hi there. Just bought the pro version. Could you tell me if DisplayFusion taskbar STILL doesn't currently support toolbars. I want to have the little arrow pointing to Desktop or whatever location.

Also, the actual system tray bar - I think you group it in DF's settings under Taskbar. However, once I set the Taskbar mode to - All taskbars show all windows, I do get a dupe of the system tray as I want it, but the tray icons can't be scrolled over. I am saying this cos I use https://clickmonitorddc.bplaced.net/ and it allows for tray icons to be scrolled over with scroll on mouse and this then adjusts volume, brightness, etc. But with DFs dupe of the traybar this isn't possible, you cant scroll on the dupe monitor and adjust brightness, etc.

DisplayFusion 9.7 should have scrollwheel support for the tray icons, are you running the latest version? Thanks!

DisplayFusion toolbar development is still ongoing unfortunately, but it is still in the works.

As for the mousewheel support I have opened an internal ticket so we can investigate this further for the next release. Thanks!

Hello,

It looks like this is working fine on my system. Are you still running into trouble?

Thanks!

Well, have DF released an update or something? Cos if not then there's no way my issue would magically have disappeared :)

Hello,

Can you give our latest beta a shot and see if the issue persists? Here's the link: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/

Thanks!

Where have you grouped the settings under? And what changes have you made?

I, in particular, was asking about 2 features (as shown below). Where are they grouped under?

Hello,

In regards to the toolbars, we haven't made too much progress on it, but we're hoping to have support for them in 2021.

You can find our beta change log here: https://www.displayfusion.com/ChangeLog/Beta/

We haven't made any direct changes to address the Click Monitor application, but I'm currently running Beta 6 and it seems to be working fine for me. Maybe one of our changes had a collateral fix on the application :)

Give that a shot and let me know how it works!

Do you guys have a portable zip pack or something ... I don't wanna install a full-blown version of DF just for a beta test.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we don't. If you prefer, you can wait till our next full release, which were hoping to have later this month.

Thanks!

I thought the idea was to have this thing tested before release so u could eventually include some last changes, if needed. I wouldn't think making a zip of the folder containing the beta release would be that difficult...

Hello,

Ah, sorry, my mistake. If you head to the link I posted earlier for the beta, there should be a link to download the zip package without the installer.

Thanks!

Still testing and meanwhile found another bug.

I do Alt-tab and with DF I do not see StickyNotes in the ALT-Tab previews. I then kill DF and do ALT-tab and StickyNotes previews. Any idea?

I'm also looking for a way to show the Windows "links" toolbar on all monitors. I realize I could use taskbar shortcuts but I have a *very* large multi-level links toolbar and converting it all to shortcuts would be too much effort.

@St---: Is that happening in 9.7.1 Beta 10? The Sticky Notes are showing up correctly for me.

@mhl: It's not currently possible to add toolbars to the multi-monitor taskbar, sorry!
