Does anything need to be enabled for this function to work? On my Win, nothing happens.
Is this supposed to send a notification?

Code

BFS.Dialog.ShowTrayMessage("May the force be with you!");

There are a few of things that might prevent the tray messages from showing:

  • If the tray icon for DisplayFusion is in the hidden area on the taskbar.
  • If the entry for DisplayFusion is set to Off in Windows Settings > System > Notifications.
  • If "Do Not Disturb" is enabled in Windows Settings > System > Notifications.
  • If "Focus mode" is enable in Windows Settings > System > Notifications.
  • If "Don't show tray icon notification balloons" is enabled in DisplayFusion Settings > Advanced Settings.

Thanks for the scenarios.

😍 DisplayFusion

Referencing the attachment:

Under Advanced Settings I had the fist two tray options 'on'. When I turn General setting #2 'off', I can see balloons from spawned scripts (❌)and from my direct calls within my scripts, like "BFS.Dialog.ShowTrayMessage("May the force be with you!"); (✔️).

I cannot see where General setting #1 makes any difference. What is that setting specifically for?

Lastly, is there a setting combo to show my forced balloons (✔️), but not the ones from spawned scripts?

There isn't a way currently, but we'll put another advanced setting on our list to add that would let you disable the "Running" notification :)

Thanks, Keith!

Really enjoying scripting! Again, hats off to Binary Fortress for great software. So impressive and, as a developer myself, hope everyone understands that no software is or can be perfect and that DF must operate within the constraints of Microsoft Windows itself.

Check out this cool utility I installed today (see attachment). This download supercedes the email Zoom question I submitted.

Thanks for the kind words! Nice looking utility, and funny enough, we've been working on a Screen Zoom function in DisplayFusion, and it's in the DisplayFusion 11 beta that we just released today :)
