Easiest to explain with a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5AVle6x7UY

I'm only left clicking on the icon in the taskbar trying to get back to the game but it keeps getting minimized. It does eventually work as you can also see in the video but takes multiple tries and the problem instantly comes back if I alt+tab out of the game again (also on the video). I found out that the problem disappears if I disable the Taskbars in Monitor Configuration but that's the biggest reason I'm using DisplayFusion in the first place.

Using one 5120x1440 monitor split into two 2560x1440 splits but downscaled the video I linked to 3840x1080.

It doesn't do it with everything, for example Chrome or Media Player Classic and some other games work just fine in going from windowed to full screen with the split taskbars enabled.

Thanks for the video! I haven't been able to reproduce this issue here. Could you send me a list of the games you've noticed that do this? I'll see if I have any of them here and re-test with them.

Thanks!

Checked some games again that I thought I had the same problem with but I forgot it was actually a different problem with the taskbar just disappearing completely. Mostly I've switched to playing games in real windowed or real fullscreen on this monitor. I'll update if I find another game with the same problem as on the first post.

As for the taskbar disappearing on second split (the one with DF taskbar) while the game is running, it looks like this this and the second taskbar only sometimes very briefly appears for half a second when I press windows button but usually not even then.

It happened with all but one game that I tested in borderless windowed fullscreen:
Grand Theft Auto V
Witcher 3
Warframe
Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition
Slay the Spire
Tomb Raider (2013)
Civilization VI
Guild Wars 2

The one that worked perfectly (in borderless windowed fullscreen):
Assassin's Greed Odyssey

With AC:o, it works exactly like I want it to: both taskbars being there always when the game is minimized but disappearing instantly after I go back to the game.

I did find one "solution" for the original problem without disabling taskbars: Game executable -> Properties -> Compatibility (tab) -> Disable fullscreen optimizations (checked)

That kind of just makes the game behave as if it was a true fullscreen though so I guess that's why it works.

For the taskbar disappearing, if you enable the "Allow taskbar reloading while full screen..." option on the Settings > Taskbar tab, does that make any difference?

Tried the first half of the games and enabling the "Allow taskbar reloading while full screen..." didn't make any difference for any of them.

Ok, could you send me two debug logs? One for the issue with Arkham City, and another for the issue of the taskbar disappearing?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Getting a similar issue with a full screen window.
To resolve I have to turn off Enabled Multi Monitor Taskbars completely. Tweaking the other settings in the Taskbar section do not help

Sorry for the way late response here. We have been able to reproduce a similar issue here, but haven't had any luck fixing it yet. It seems to happen if there's just an appbar (a docked window, like the DF taskbar), even if the appbar doesn't actually have any code in it at all.

If we make any progress on this in the future, we'll be sure to post an update.

Thanks!

Sorry to hijack this post, but I'm dealing with the exact same issue. Is there anything I can do to help? Currently running into this issue with Metro exodus, but it also happend to me with The Witcher 3. It doesn't matter if I use fullscreen and/or borderless windowed. The moment I disable the DF taskbar the issue is resolved.

@Feiko1: Not at the moment but if we do need any info or testing we'll definitely post here.

Thanks!
