Hello All,

I have noted an issue with Win 10 Menu Start when using DF in multi monitor environment. The setting is that Menu Start taskbars should are visible on all monitors. The problem exists when I disconnect one monitor and reconnect it again (or not). After that Menu Start shows in the strange positions and is basically hidden partially or fully outside visible monitor area. Please see below a video which shows the issue. What helps is to exit DF, kill start.exe process in the Win Task Manager, and reopen DF. After doing this Menu Start bahaves normally and as expected.

Issue Video

Would it be possible to fix this issue in the next versions of DF software, please?

Best regards!

Thanks for sending that over. The issue persists if you just exit DisplayFusion, without restarting start.exe?

Yes, the issue exists still when I exit DF. I need to restart start menu process to fix the issue.

Additional, when I restart start.exe process and DF is in the background, this does not fix the problem.

If you leave DisplayFusion running and restart Windows Explorer, does that fix it up?

I don't know. I have not tried to restart Windows Explorer. I exit DF and kill "start.exe" (Menu Start) process to fix this. I can try to restart Windows Explorer when I happens next time. Just tell me how to do that, please? I should kill "explorer.exe" process?

You can open Task Manager > Processes, and find "Windows Explorer" in the list, right click and it and select "Restart", then give it a minute or two to load

Interesting, could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks for sending that over. If you just disable your monitor does the issue happen, or is it only when it's fully disconnected?

I think that this happens in both cases. The log file was prepared in the scenario when monitor was simply disabled as I picked a profile for one monitor only. But it happens the same if for example I have monitr connected to my laptop USB-C port and I physically disconnect monitor. Then start menu i broken on my laptop.

We might have a lead on a fix from the log, we'll let you know if we have anything further on this going forward.

Thanks!
