Out of curiosity: Where can I see which kind of Pro license I have? Maybe you can read it from this excerpt:
• Type: ProLicensed
• Loaded: HKCU:APP
• Validation: True
• Validation Status: Valid
• Validation Type: Unknown
• Validation Version: V1
• Validation Pro: ProLicensed
• Validation Expiry Date: Never

Best regards,
Carsten

@Carsten: I've checked in our system, you currently have a DisplayFusion Pro Standard license.

What are the benefits of upgrading from a Pro Standard to a steam license?

@Stuart: The features are the same, but a Pro Standard license only allows for installation on one machine. The Steam license can be used on multiple machines.

Huh? It might be bleedingly obvious to everybody else but I can't figure out what "Steam" is. Di-hydrogen-monoxide in gaseous form? An application? A license server? A Binary Fortress product? Somebody else's product?

Steam is a digital distribution platform (an app store of sorts) that used to only sell games. They've recently started offering software in the Steam store as well :)

More details about them can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/about/

Thanks!

I am strongly considering purchasing a license. If I want a steam license right away should I purchase directly from Steam if I do not currently have a license?

@Spio: Yep! If you're not an existing customer, and you'd prefer to have DisplayFusion in your Steam Library, then you can just purchase directly on Steam when you're ready

Does the Steam license require that Steam is always on when I want to use DisplayFusion?

@Olli: Nope, you just need to install it through the Steam client and then you're good to go.
