I installed the latest version of DisplayFusion Pro on my work machine the last week and initially set it to handle screensavers. It locked up my system whenever the screensaver activated.

Actually, that's not strictly true; what happened is I would come back and find the wallpaper the only thing visible on my two monitors (no cursor, no "press CTRL-ALT-DEL" window, no nothing). Regardless of what I did, I could never get back to my desktop. The machine wasn't actually locked up; I could hear everything operating in the background, but I just couldn't get to it.

So I disabled DisplayFusion's control of the screensaver, but the problem remained. I edited the registry to disable the screensaver and also to set the ScreenSaveTimeOut to be 60000 sec, but it didn't help. I removed the SCRNSAVE.EXE registry entry (custom screensaver "technip.scr") that my company's IT dept places in my registry on bootup, but it gets replaced each time I boot up.

I even uninstalled DisplayFusion this morning, but it still happened; I came back from lunch and my wallpaper was all I could see. I still heard my machine getting emails, and my music still playing, but the desktop was inaccessible.

I haven't installed any new programs since installing DisplayFusion.

Are you able to modify the Windows screen saver settings? I believe the screen saver settings don't get reset even after uninstalling DisplayFusion, so you may need to go back into the Windows screen saver settings and set it to one of the built in ones.

I'm wondering whether the forced screen saver from the IT Group Policy might be interfering with the DisplayFusion settings. I'll do some testing on this and see what I can find out.

Thanks!

No, I can't change the screensaver settings in Windows. I might be able to change it in the registry, though changing the ScreenSaveActive setting to "0" hasn't stopped the lockups, so that might not work either. :| See registry screenshot:

Ok, there's not a whole lot we can do to troubleshoot if you can't access the screen saver settings, but if DisplayFusion has been uninstalled, it shouldn't be interfering at all. Your IT department's policy should just change it back to the default settings. I'd suggest having them take a look at it to see if there's anything they can do.
