EDIT: Fixed - Deleted the IconCache and reset my computer this fixed the problem temporarily.

Edit 2: Actually this happened again, is Display Fusion somehow casuing a problem with IconCache?

I have three monitors with my primary monitor in the middle split into two halves. The middle monitor, left side taskbar (primary taskbar) does not show which programs are opened whilst the extra taskbars are working.

Everything was working fine up until last week. I thought it was a temporary bug and resetting my computer would fix this but this didn't go away. I'm not sure if this is a Display Fusion issue or Windows.

Hello,

You said this is happening on your primary taskbar (the windows taskbar)? This likely isn't an issue with Display Fusion, but just to be sure, can you close down Display Fusion either through task manager or through the tray, and see if the issue persists?

Let me know how that goes!

I closed Display Fusion, all the windows appeared on my primary taskbar as it should. Then reopened Display Fusion this seemed to fix the problem, hopefully the issue doesn't come back.

The same problem started again, again I could fix this with closing and reopening DisplayFusion.

Tried a few times, seems random how quickly the problem comes back.

Hello,

What do you have the taskbar mode set to in Display Fusion?

Thanks!

Hello,

Could you try setting the taskbar mode to "Windows taskbar shows all windows, Display Fusion shows relevant windows" and see if the issue persists?

Thanks!

When I change to this mode, the other taskbars show the relevant windows but my primary taskbar shows every single window open.

Hello,

Interesting, and with the taskbar mode set to "All taskbars show relevant windows", you primary windows taskbar doesn't show any windows, even when an application is on its screen?

Thanks!

My primary taskbar does show some windows from when I first reset Display Fusion when it is working as it should, these stay on but once it stops any new windows I open are not added to my primary taskbar.

Todoist is on a different monitor but for some reason always shows on my primary.

Hello,

The next time it happens, can you open a new window on the left split and confirm that it's not showing up on that taskbar, and then send over a debug log? Here are the steps for the log:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

For Todoist, we are aware of an issue with Microsoft applications not being removed from the main windows taskbar.

Thanks!

Hi,

I restarted Display Fusion to fix the problem around 20/11/12 20:15 pm, left the computer and came back at 21:27 pm and the issue was happening again. I have attached the log.

I noticed after resetting Display Fusion the problem comes back quite soon after.

Hello,

Thanks for sending that over. We're going to add some more logging for beta 7 to help us narrow down the issue. We'll let you know once it's released.

Thanks!

Hello,

We've released our latest beta, with added logging. Could you update, and then send me over another debug log? Here's the link to the beta: https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/

Thanks!

Hi,

I have downloaded and enabled the log. Should I keep track of the time again when this issue occurs?

With Taskview and Displayfusion only my primary taskbar/split screen seems to work. If I switch desktop, the others stay on the same desktop.

If you can make a note of the time it happens, that would be great!

Regarding the Task View thing, this issue is currently on our list to fix up. For some reason, windows that have been removed from the Primary taskbar (like ones that have been moved to a DF taskbar) don't register in Task View any more. There is a workaround, which is to set the Taskbar Mode on the Settings > Taskbar tab to "Windows taskbar shows all windows..." but since that's the behaviour you're trying to resolve in this thread, that's not a great workaround for you either :(

We have a lead on a fix for the issue but it's going to take some significant development and testing time, so we're not sure yet when we will have it done.
