I like the taskbar preview options in DisplayFusion

I cranked the "Thumbnail Preview Size" to max (i think 600) and use it as a quick "window chooser with huge previews"

It works pretty well apart from 1 bug

As you hover over the taksbar buttons and previews show up they get mixed up / scrambled together

The correct preview is still on top but it has all the other previews mashed together behind it

It probably has something to do with window polling and thumbnail refresh or what not but the result gets pretty confusing very fast...

i was messing around and found that the previews get scrambled when Multi-Monitor Taskbar is set to:

Windows Preview Style: "Windows Default Style"

when i switch to "Windows Vista style" the previews do not jam together although i now loose the name of the window thats only available in the "Windows Default Style"

just saying... its a bug (graphic glitch) but i can live with "Windows Vista style" as workaround :D

I LOVE DisplayFusion

EDIT> the "Windows Vista style" is also a bit buggy - in a different way - sometimes (randomly) when i hover over the task button the Vista style preview shows up but wont dissapear when i move the mouse away - the preview lingers on screen, until i click on the taskbar or after several clicks somewhere on the screen - it happens quite a bit throughout a day (i still didnt find the exact pattern that causes these flukes) - as if sometimes the thumbnail preview forgets to go away and lingers on the screen

i figured out a pattern to make "Windows Vista style" taskbar previews to get stuck, so iam opening a paralel bug report and see which one gets fixed first

a) "Windows Default Style" - windows previews get scrambled (graphic glitch)
b) "Windows Vista style" - windows get stuck on screen

EDIT> actually for b) "Windows Vista style" - the windows get stuck so often that its pretty much unusable - at this point i would probably prefer to fix the "Windows Default Style" graphic glitch as this might take less time to figure out than the stucking windows - i guess...

Couple of follow-up questions:

For the Windows Default Style, if you take out the preview size advanced setting, does this still happen?

For the Windows Vista Style, you mentioned there's specific steps to make it happen, what are they? I'd like to give it a go here.

Thanks!

THANKS Keith for taking your time !!!

All Advanced settings REMOVED

Windows Default Style - scrambled /overlayed previews
- It happens even in the default settings (with small thumbs)
- screenshot attached - you can see notepad, browser, etc scrambled together inside the thumbnail

ONE OBSERVATION - when i terminate DisplayFusion and start it again all previews are fixed... so it seems like the scramble is introduced later during the day - when you start fresh DP the previews are not scrambled together - maybe some app throws DP off - ill keep an eye on it

Windows Vista Style - Tumbnail Preview windows get stuck
- issue continues in separate thread

Sounds good, if you are able to figure out what triggers it, definitely let me know.

Thanks!

Ill try to find out

... but it could also be resources issue - some buffer fills up somewhere after too many thumbs is stored and they start to mess up without any particular app causing it...

i will keep an eye on it in next days
