Note sure if this is related to the disappearing issue, but I have started seeing the DF Taskbar stop responding, and my Firefox icon disappears leaving a blank space. I can switch windows with Windows+Tab but the DF Taskbar responds only occasionally.

I was downloading in Firefox and downloading (a lot of) Help Updates for VS2012 at the time.

Windows 7 Pro x64 with DF 4.10.

I reinstalled DF 4.01 and that did not help - the DF taskbar takes 10 - 15 seconds to finish starting up (draws Start button and tray, then waits for a long time, then tray vanishes and reappears correctly, then migrates task buttons) and then responds intermittently with long pauses between responses.

Could you guys try disabling the Application Hooks in the DisplayFusion Advanced Settings, then restart DisplayFusion and let me know if the issue still occurs?

Thanks!

That appeared to make the issue worse. Some of my tray icons (Process Explorer) aren't the correct image and I am occasionally getting a wait cursor on the toolbar and it doesn't respond for a while (>10 seconds) periodically.

I am no longer updated VS 2012 help or downloading in Firefox (in fact Firefox is closed) but the issue remains.

I was not having this issue with the DF 4.x betas that I noticed, but my PC has had other changes (i.e. VS 2012 RTM install, CorelDraw X6 install).

I still think something is happening on startup as well - I cycled taskbars and it took 40 seconds for the DF taskbar to finish coming up, when I start DF it takes 57 seconds for the DF taskbar to completely appear and move the icons over.

I have not had any of the issues with turning off the Application Hooks on 4.0.1.

I did notice something else with this. I RDP into my pc almost every night and every morning. On many mornings, when directly on the machine, a few apps don't respond and the icons on the lower-left are empty. Many times it is Visual Studio and/or SQL Server Management Studio that is not responding, using lots of CPU etc and usually I have to kill the process.

This morning, there was about a 20 second lag and the apps were then responding. I did not have to kill any process. I would guess that the App Hooks was causing these issues?

@Jim: you probably already saw this post in the other thread.

Thanks for the updates guys. We're still puzzled as to what's going on here, as we haven't been able to reproduce the issue.

Would any of you be able to try the following?
  • Update to DisplayFusion 4.1 again
  • Disable all other programs from startup using msconfig
  • Reboot your computer, and see if the issue still exists
We're just trying to narrow down whether DisplayFusion might be conflicting with some other application on your systems, so if the above does resolve the issue, then we can start to narrow down to the list of programs and see if one of them might be contributing to the issue.

Thanks!

I tried 4.2 Beta 1 and so far the problem has not re-occurred.
