Hi guys,

I'm using DisplayFusion pro 5.1. It works great, except for one small thing that has been happening ever since 5.1 was released, to the best of my memory. I am using Windows 7 Pro. x64 bit.

The DF title bar buttons occasionally disappear behind the title bar. It's as if the Aero feature blurs the buttons. Unfortunately, I can't capture a screenshot, because each time I use the snipping tool, the toolbar buttons come back.

When this problem happens, folder windows and applications are affected.

Is this a bug?

Sincerely,
Rupertsland

It definitely sounds like the buttons are being forced behind the caption bar. Could you attach a copy of the DebugInfo.html file? You can find it by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab.

Thanks!

Hi Keith.

Thanks for responding to my post. Unfortunately, I had logging disabled, and so I can't give you the debug file. What I will do is turn it on now and run the applications I use and try to capture the debug information for you. I suspect the problem is still happening in 5.1.1.

No worries! I'll await the log. No rush at all :)

Hi Keith.

Ok, attached is a copy of the DebugInfo.html file you requested. This morning I ran a number of applications. It seems that with DF 5.1.1, the problem I had has gone away (buttons appear), but I noticed there seems to be a small delay getting the title bar buttons to appear when switching applications (this does not happen with folder windows). I use Excel a lot for processing data, and also use GIS software, and SQL Server Management Studio. My machine is an older DELL Precision 390 workstation with 8 GB or RAM, running Win 7 Pro x64.

Thanks! Glad to hear that the buttons aren't getting stuck behind the windows any more.

How long is the delay when you switch windows before the buttons show up?

Hi Keith.

Sorry to take so long to reply to your last question.

I'm seeing mostly a delay varying between 1 to 6 seconds. Today, the titlebar buttons in the folder windows remained behind the title bar ... until I hit the print screen button -- I was able to grab a screenshot, however. See attached PNG file.

So, there is still a slight problem with the titlebar buttons showing up. Usually everything works perfectly, and then they start appearing behind the titlebar.

Ok, interesting. The troubleshooting info looked ok, so would you be able to do the following to help troubleshoot further?
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Detailed) and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue (please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file)
  • Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log

Thanks!
