Hello,
I'm trying to setup a trigger to run when the user no longer using the computer for 15 minutes.
However, the trigger event "System Idle" doesn't seem to be working for me.
I tried putting 15 seconds instead of 900 seconds for testing but it still doesn't trigger the actions.

I'm using Windows 11 (23H2) OS Build 22631.3007
with DisplayFusion Pro on Steam 11.0 (Beta 2).

Could you send me a screenshot of the trigger you created?

Thanks for sending that over, it seems to work fine here. Sometimes external devices plugged into your computer can prevent your system from going idle. Does your screensaver work if you leave your computer idle for an extended period of time?

Once upon a time, I had a wired Xbox controller plugged into my system and it had a small amount of drift. It would randomly wake my computer because Windows considered it an input device, but would not have any effect on the screen when it was drifting because most programs ignore it. It was very hard to determine this was my culprit.

I run into a similar issue where the system idle trigger doesn't work. Windows idle works though (like sleep, monitor off, screensaver etc). I'm working around it and have my screensaver also trigger lock screen on windows, and have displayfusion trigger on lockscreen.

Thanks for sending that over, I tested it out here and it seemed to work fine. Could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Sorry late reply. So I enabled the log around 20:05 and went afk for around 10 minutes. Walked away and came back around 20:14-15.

Thanks for sending that over. If you create a test idle trigger that fires on a low timer, like 10 seconds, and just shows a notification, does it work?

Okay, could you clear your log via the troubleshooting tab, and then grab a new one during that 10 second test trigger?

Here you go. Should've started about 22:53 or 54 or so.

Thanks for sending that over. It's detecting this full screen app, I wonder if that's interfering: C:\Program Files (x86)\FinalWire\AIDA64 Extreme\aida64.exe

Can you try closing that out and see if it works?

Just tried and that was it. Unfortunately, not running AIDA64 is not an option for me lol. Is it possible to white list it somehow?

We have an advanced setting to ignore full screen windows that should do it, but it will apply globally. We have a feature request open to add that setting on a per app basis, so I'll add your vote to it.

Thanks!

I've found the setting and now my trigger works as intended, thank you for the help!
