Hi, I'm running Display Fusion 9.7 and have had no real issues for ages. However today upon restart I cannot get my applications to maximise to fil their splits.
Monitor 1 has multiple splits, while monitor 2 is a single (no split).
The monitor with no splits works fine, double clicking title bar will maximise and restore as usual, but the Monitor with splits, double clicking title bar does does nothing. Also the maximiuse button itself does nothing. It's like the function is being overidden.
I have searched this site and google but havent found ayone else with the issue yet.

Any advise appreciated.
Thanks,Brooke

Hey Brooke,

Is it happening with any applications in particular?

Thanks!

Hi Owen,

It is happening with all applications that I am using on that monitor.
So, Adobe PDf, Outlook, Access 4 Communicator, File Explorer & others from time to time

The only way I can maximise anything on that monitor is by holding the modifier key and dragging to the top of the screen. Both the maximise button and double clicking the title bar which used to work, now do nothing. If I go and repeatedly click 3-4 times I get a screen flicker like it tried to maximise but reverts to where it was previously.

If I change the profile for that monitor to full screen, both sdouble click and the maximise button work as usual. It's only when I have splits setup/turned on that the function goes away.

Hey Brooke,

Interesting, could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

Interestingly, 2 days of being unable to maximise on that screen - it now appears to be working again. I didn't notice any update but perhaps it happened in the background? I had restarted multiple times with no change, and now its fixed without any restart. I don't have an explanation but it seems all good for now.

Thanks for taking the time to look

Hi Guys,

This same behavior has now returned (albeit 2 months later)

Exactly same as original post. Everything working as expected Yesterday, shut down last night. Turned on this morning and i can't make windows fill my splits.

If anyone has any new suggestions or if you need any logs to help out pls let me know.

Thanks!:)

Hi Brooke,

If you create splits on the single monitor, does the issue happen there too?

Thanks!

Hi Owen,
Thanks for your help again.

Yes, I just tried adding a split to my other monitor, and i lose the ability to maximise. I turned that monitor back to single/no split and i can again maximise windows as expected.

Additional Information,

I just discovered that while most of my apps will not maximise (Excel,Word,Outlook,Chrome,Windows Explorer & more), at least one app will fill any split its dragged over. "Access4 Communicator" (voip app). So this one works just fine while all the others don't.

I'm way out of my depth there.:-[

Hi Brooke,

Strange! Could you send me over a backup of your settings? You can grab them in the options tab of Display Fusion, with the "Export Settings" button.

Thanks!

Hi Owen,

Export file attached here.

I should point out that on boot up this morning, once again the problem has gone away. I'm back to full expected behaviour for now :-)

IF it happens again I'll try to take a video screen capture to show whats happening in the hopes that it can help in future.

Hi Brooke,

That's really weird, I can't seem to reproduce any symptoms with your backup. A video would be great if it comes back :)

Thanks!

For anyone who stumbles upon this thread from a web search:
Restarting the computer did the trick.
* I was fiddling around with custom functions to move windows to specific monitors and maximize, then the maximize funcionality stopped working. Restart the computer.
