Has anyone successfully installed a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter that's compatible with DisplayFusion and two desktop monitors? I want to be able to play streaming movies onto my large-screen TV (so the TV in essence becomes a third monitor).

I tried Iogear's GUC3025HW6, but it insists on swapping my 2 desktop monitors (so I can't smoothly roll my cursor left-to-right across both monitors). The left becomes 2; the right 1. Iogear tech was unable to solve it.

Is there another brand that works? Or a different solution to what I want to do? I don't have DVI or HDMI outputs on my Dell Precision T7500 workstation.

Thanks!
Terry

You should be able to just re-order them in the Monitor Configuration, here are the steps:
  • Open the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration (Start > All Programs > DisplayFusion > DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration)
  • Click the "Identify" button and make note of the large ID numbers shown on each monitor
  • Re-arrange the monitors in the Monitor Configuration window to match the ID numbers from Step 2
  • Click Apply, and test the mouse movement

Hope that helps!

Thanks Keith. I can switch monitor IDs OK in DisplayFusion, but it makes no difference how I have it set up, the USB external video card if plugged in locks the displays reversed so I can no longer move the mouse L to R across the 2 monitors. I have to go off the right of the right monitor to get to the left monitor. At this point, no matter how I change the configuration in DisplayFusion, the mouse is locked from smooth L to R movement. Makes no difference which monitor is set as primary. The USB unit uses DisplayLink software, and no matter how I set their video configuration for display on 3rd Monitor (TV), mouse is locked as above. I tried the latest software from DisplayLink to no avail.

I also tried a different USb 3.0 to HDMI from Cable Matters, but it's DisplayLink software produced a BSOD.

So still looking fro a way to display my desktop on my big screen TV.

Ok, that's strange! I use a DisplayLink adapter here, and I can position it wherever I like and the mouse will move correctly between the monitors, as long as the positions of the monitors in the configuration match the physical positions on my desk. Note that setting either monitor as "Primary" won't make any difference for the movement of the mouse between the monitors. Only swapping their actual positions will affect the mouse movement.

My guess would be that you're running into an issue with the DisplayLink drivers themselves. Have you contacted their support team to see if they have any ideas?

Talking with IOGear & DisplayLink got me nowhere. Searching web, I find others have same issue.

Are you aware of any USB 3.0 to HDMI option that doesn't use DisplayLink software?

At least it's encouraging to know from your experience that it's possible.

As far as I know, all USB display adapters use DisplayLink tech, sorry!
