Version 4.0.1 had an aspect ratio setting (landscape, portrait, square) when using Bing search. Version 4.1 hasn't got this setting. Where did it go?

Selecting only landscape aspect images was something I requested last October, so I thought the feature might actually be getting close to being added, and now it's gone again completely.

Unfortunately Microsoft has discontinued the old Bing Image Search API, so we had to update 4.1 to use the new API, which doesn't allow us to specify the Aspect Ratio any more :(

I just noticed that on the Wallpaper screen, the summary still shows info for the Aspect Ratio. We'll have that removed for the next beta since it's no longer applicable.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info Keith. I suspected it might be an API change, as an iPad app I use, also is having problems with the new Bing API.

Be nice if this (aspect ratio selection) was still planned for local wallpaper selections, portrait images just don't work very well on landscape monitors.

Regards
Lee

Interesting idea to be able to specify the orientation for local images. I've added it to our feature request list, and I'll be sure to post an update if we're able to implement it.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I seem to remember it getting added to the features list last October, when I first suggested it. I just presumed that nobody else thought it would be of any use. Personally, it's probably the most useful addition I could have, as I currently have to create duplicate sets of photos, with the portrait ones removed... hence why I thought it was so useful in the Bing search option.

I'll keep my eyes open, in case it gets added.

You're absolutely right! I had searched our system but couldn't find the request. However, I searched it again after you mentioned the date, and I was able to find the old request :)

No-one else has requested it yet, but I still think it's a neat idea. We'll eventually be working on some major changes to the Wallpaper configuration stuff, so we'll be reviewing it further then.

Thanks!
