I switched to Display Fusion after using Actual Multiple Monitors for a year. The first thing I noticed about Display Fusion is that it is quicker. I am however, losing the thumbnails previews after a hibernate.

To describe this in more detail, if I open up five Firefox windows (not tabs) and then I hover my mouse over the Firefox icon on the taskbar, I can see the five previews of the five windows I'm on in the five thumbnails. Now, if I hibernate the machine, then bring it back up, the five thumbnails are blank.

I can click on each thumbnail, and apparently that puts the thumbnail preview into some cache again, but when I hibernate the machine and wake it up again they are blank again. It's not enough to hover over the thumbnail. I have to click on the thumbnail to bring the Firefox window up. That rebuilds the thumbnail.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I never noticed it on AMM, so they solved it somehow.

thank you

Thanks for switching to DisplayFusion! I wasn't able to reproduce this issue here. Couple of quick questions:
  • Which version of Windows are you running?
  • Does this occur on the DisplayFusion taskbar, the Windows taskbar, or both?
  • Were the Firefox windows minimized when the computer entered hibernation?

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

Good questions.

I've tried hibernating and restarting my machine like 20 times now. I tried with it with the windows minimized, or some of them minimized, or none of them minimized. The thumbnails always come out of hibernate blank.

I tried closing DF and hibernate/restart and the thumbnails are still blank every time. Does that mean it is not caused by DF? ... probably.

... testing ...

Okay, I found something. When my Win 7 comes out of hibernate and the thumbnails are blank, I can click on the bottom right of the Win 7 screen, on that little 'display desktop' button, or whatever it's called, and then click it a second time, and the thumbnails are no longer blank, they are correct.

So, at least I have a rather easy 2-click fix. And I guess DisplayFusion didn't cause it. But it still bothers me a little that my machine is misbehaving.

Maybe you or someone will know how to fix it.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to fix that :(

If it still happens without DisplayFusion running, it could be a different application on your system, or even an issue with the video card drivers perhaps.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
