Hey,

I'm having an issue where ocasionally (especially after the computer is locked) the center taskbar begins to "float".

You can see in my screenshot the taskbar floating above where it should be, and I've also opened my system info, DF, Display info, and my nvidia surround configuration.

For the time being a workaround for me is opening DF and toggling the multimonitor taskbar (image attached as well).

I've included the debug info zip from DF.

Hope this helps!

Strange! Could you enable debug logging, and send a copy of the log the next time this occurs?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log
Thanks!

Sure thing. Log started at 1:35pm EST, bug occurred around 3pm, and I toggled the taskbar on and off at 3:15 to fix it (and this fix does work temporarily)

Thanks! Do your monitors or computer enter sleep mode when it's locked, or does it just stay locked with the monitors on?

It occurs without locking or sleeping. It can happen while I'm in the middle of using the computer.

On the Windows Task Manager > Details tab, are there any processes listed with a name something like "nvsmartmaxapp?"

No, I don't have that running in details.

If you're referring to nvidia process' all I've got is:

nvcontainer.exe [SYSTEM]
nvcontainer.exe [me]
NVDisplay.Container.exe [SYSTEM]
NVDisplay.Container.exe [SYSTEM]
NVIDIA Web Helper.exe [me]
NvTelemetryContainer.exe [NETWORK SERVICE]

Ok, I'm a bit stumped here! I will need to do some in-depth testing with an NVIDIA Surround setup next week. I'll keep you posted as soon as I have more news.

Thanks!

I've been doing some testing with this, and the only time I could get it to happen was after the NVIDIA drivers updated, but the computer hadn't been rebooted yet. After rebooting, I never ran into this problem again. Just to double-check, have you done a full reboot already?

I did definitely see it after rebooting, but I'm not seeing the issue right now... I'm on driver 390.77, about to update to 391.01. I'll let you know if my experience is the same after install and reboot...

I don't get the same behavior, but either way it appears to be fixed. I'll report back if I have the issue again.

Thanks for giving it a shot on your end.
