I updated to Win11 24H2 and had no video/gif backgrounds anymore.
Then I re-installed Windows again (as a way to fix this - and other stuff in my Win7-Win10-Win11 install - lazy me) = same result. No Video/Gif Background.
i tested: MP4, FLV, AVI & GIF
i have all codecs installed.
nothing works - desktop is just black 😕
best wishes

i switch from a normal jpg background on both screens to a gif on on screen and an mp4 on the other screen
result is a black background on both screens.
i only logged the bug - so time is 21:02
NOT IN THE LOG: if i add any normal picture to one of the screens instead of gif/mp4 it results in showing the image. but the gif/video on the other screen is still black.
hope this helps

Thanks for sending that over, we were able to reproduce that here so we've added it to our list to look into.

Hi,
thank you for mostly fixing this issue
mp4, flv and gif works
yet gif has a problem that the "framerate" gets changed to a slower than normal speed. - its like slowmotion

found the issue:
Win11 24H2 "thinks" its a ARGB32 10fps gif -> while all other players sees them as 25 or 30fps gif
so we have to wait either on AMD/Nvidia or Mircrosoft for a fix
i assume WDDM 3.2 to be responsible for this -> but it can also being displayfusion not reading gif correctly
i also provide some info on how i encoded the gif:
ffmpeg -> fps=25 or 30; use palette; resize output -> works in IrfanView/WindowsPicture/MPC-HC -> does not work with Peek and therefore Displayfusion
EDIT: i was able to "trick" windows to think its a 20fps gif -> i reduced speed to 75% or 66% for several gifs -> those play back faster with displayfusion but slower for any other programm mentioned before
