Hi Everyone :) ,

Total Screens 3: First Laptop screen, second project, third tv.

Laptop Spec: Asus N550LF, i7, 8GB Ram, Geforce GT 745m, x64-based notebook

Environment Type: Teaching room/lecturer room

FYI: This all worked, but stopped since the windows 10 upgrade.

I've just read the blog below in which I'm actually having the same problem.

https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/windows-10-does-not-recognize-second-monitor/?ID=80c0db96-297e-4798-9e04-dcb05ebe1409

However, just to summarise the problem I'm having.

Background information:

I have one projector (Mini Display port) and one TV (HDMI). The projector is used within the classroom and the TV is used for remote sessions and is connected to another system (this system has not been changed nor does the settings, it is a Windows 10 problem).

Now as stated in the URL page above. The projector works but only on 2048x768, but its optimum resolution is 1280x1024 60Hz.

Sometimes the projector does not working and I have to restart the machine in order for the projector to work.

I have noticed that if I remove either the Mini display and/or the HDMI cable this does not work without both being plugged in. Both these devices have to be plugged in which I've noticed it could be set up like this.

I've also noticed in the URL above that this could be due to my nvidia graphics card. In which I have updated this drive to windows 10. But this only shows me the 3D options I physically cant get to the display settings from there.

I've tried the following:

- Updating windows to the newest update
- Updated drives (including display, HDMI, Graphics cards and Nvidia)
- 60Hz remain across all display setting options
- Tried windows (button) + P
- Right click display options (helped me notice the resolution problem)
- Go into the Dell Graphics card display settings in which I can display my screen onto the Projector (mini display port) by not through to the TV (HDMI)

I've been googling and trying many other things just going through the display settings. It might not seem like a lot that I have tried, but its all that I knew. I'm also going to read the URL above, as there was some interesting points. But I just wanted to post and see what else you guys(and girls) might be able to recommend.

Help regarding:

Resolving the Resolution settings "The projector works but only on 2048x768, but its optimum resolution is 1280x1024 60Hz"

HDMI port to be detected again

If someone can help me get to the Nvidia display settings this could help resolve this matter

60Hz remain across all display setting options or so I believe is there a way to resolve this?

Many thanks everyone,

Jas

If you just use the Win + P shortcut on the keyboard to switch to "Extend" mode, or "Projector only" mode, does that enable it at the correct resolution?

Hi,

I actually resolved this problem. I did also try what you have suggested. It was very odd. I've pulled back all the drives and ensured this was working. Once I went into the intel graphics control panel. The laptop screen and projector was on 60hz (correct) but I had to change the tv monitor to 50ihz. I'm not sure why but this could be due to the software/how it is connected to our "on-line" system for remote sessions.

I also saved the profile in which this wouldn't occur again, whilst making detailed notes regarding this. I just find it more frustrating that a Windows 10 upgrade is meant to not change any settings, but in this case it clearly does!

Many thank's for your comment and trying to help as well.
