Good day. I have searched the FAQ and forum discussions, but have not found this issue here. I am having an issue where the Start Menu is no longer coming up and none of the Windows Apps will run to include Edge. I did a great amount of research and tried many suggested fixes. None worked.

I finally did a reset on Windows 10. My Start Menu and Windows Apps worked again just fine. Windows 10 did not detect to of the four monitors I am running, so I reinstalled the GR Displayfusion and the monitors were then all detected, but the Windows Apps stopped running immediately. The Start Menu still came up, so I moved forward with reinstalling Office 365 and Chrome yesterday. I came in this morning and am back to the Start Menu not working.

I uninstalled DF again and rebooted, still not working.

I installed the latest Beta and rebooted, still not working.

I really need to get this working ASAP. I'm open for suggestions please. I can right click the Start Button and get the Windows-X menu, but that is it. I can't get to my programs menu at all now or launch my Windows Apps.

Thanks,

Jim

That's really strange! It sounds like basically, any Universal app is failing to run (the Start menu in Win 10 is also technically a Universal app). If you disable all but one monitor, does that make any difference? If DisplayFusion's uninstalled, it's not hooking anything or doing anything that should break this, so I'm thinking maybe it has to do with the 4 monitors being enabled, as you mentioned you enabled them at the same time you installed DisplayFusion.

Keith,

Thank you for the reply. I thought this very strange as well. I had the reset Windows 10 as mentioned previously. When I did, Windows only detected the laptop and one other monitor. Everything was working then. I installed the latest DP Beta and instantly Windows Edge stopped working, but that was all. All other apps loaded fine to include the start menu.

I enabled the other two monitors and began to set everything up. The next morning I came in and the start menu and apps would no longer work. I have uninstalled DP, but still have the same issue, so I'm not sure what is going on, but it didn't start until I installed DP again after the rest of Windows 10.

I don't think reinstalling and disabling any of the monitors will work, but I will try it now.

I'll be back.

Well, it appears I was wrong. I reinstalled Beta 2 and disabled all external monitors and everything works again.

So any suggestions? I really need my other three monitors. :|

Update: I re-enabled monitor #2 and all was good. Apps and start menu still work. I then made monitor #2 primary and the apps stopped working. I witched primary back to the laptop and all started to work again. I'm going to test by enabling the other monitors one at a time and see how it goes leaving the primary as the laptop.

Update 2: I have been able to enable all monitors and desktop wallpaper with everything working by leaving my laptop as the primary monitor. Not ideal, but at least I'm up and running. I am also experience many of the same issues I see others experiencing such as the start menu opening on the primary and then popping over to the screen I am actually on. Since I just got it working again, with limitations, I am going to move forward checking on some of the other features I use such as application location and others.

Sounds good! That's a weird issue indeed, and I'm not sure what could be causing it.

With any luck, we'll have the other start menu issues fixed in the next few beta versions :)
