This has started a while back, but I'm noticing that if I have Displayfusion running it prevents the default Windows taskbar from disappearing in fullscreen applications (games).
A while ago this did not happen.

The additional DF taskbars disappear as intended from the left and right monitor but the middle one, the one with the normal Windows right-click dialog, shows all the time.

If I shutdown DF, the taskbar disappears as intended.

This doesn't happen for all fullscreen apps, I mainly notice it in games built on a Unity engine.

See attachment for my DF settings, toggling 'Show taskbar in front of full screen applications when they lose focus' makes no difference.

---

A workaround I found is to add every affected exe to the DF compatibility settings with 'Disable removing from Windows Taskbar (this application only)' selected.

---

Currently running Windows 10 Insider 14352 and DF 8.0 Beta 7, registered version. I have three physical monitors attached in nVidia surround mode for a virtual resolution of 5760x1080, which I use DF's monitor profile with to split it in three 1920x1080 displays.

Could you list some of the games that this occurs with? I'd like to test it out here to see what we can find out.

Thanks!

In no particular order:

Hand of Fate,
Cities: Skylines,
Her Story,
Shelter 2,
Dead Trigger,
realMyst Masterpiece Edition,
Pony Island,
Sunless Sea,
Yandere Simulator (free game),
Infinifactory

basically most games I own that are built on the Unity engine, but not all of them. Gone Home and Kerbal Space Program for example are not affected.

Thanks! I'll test with a few of these next week. Are they set to true full screen, or borderless windowed?

'Real' fullscreen in all cases.
I am mainly using a 1920x1080 resolution but it also happens if I use my full surround resolution of 6000x1080.

I tried out Yandere Simulator because I don't have licenses for any of the other games you listed, but couldn't reproduce this issue. Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! Two more questions:
  • Is your Windows taskbar set to auto-hide?
  • If you just disable the DisplayFusion Multi-Monitor Taskbar feature, but leave DF running, does this issue still occur?

Taskbar is not set to automatically hide;
If I disable the DF taskbars the Windows taskbar is properly hidden.

Additional info: adding a compatibility rule for an affected game with 'Disable DisplayFusion Taskbars while this application is running' does NOT fix it, I need to disable the DF taskbars fully, or use the 'Disable removing from Windows Taskbar (this application only)' compatibility setting instead.

Aha! I was testing in the latest stable version of Windows 10 and couldn't reproduce it for the life of me. Switched to the latest Insider Preview and was able to reproduce it there :)

I've added this to our list to fix up, hopefully it's something we can fix or work around from our end.

Thanks for your help in tracking this down!
