Sorry if this is somewhere already, just unclear to me as I try to work it out.
Can I use DF to replace the Windows 11 Taskbar on my primary display with full functionality?
So far... I have both taskbars on my Primary, the native taskbar is not removed. Also I noticed I cannot click the calendar to get the notification pane/etc.
Using latest beta.
Thanks.

Hello,

We currently don't support completely replacing the Windows taskbar, but we do have this open as a feature request. I've added your vote to it, so we'll be sure to let you know if we have any news on it in the future.

That calendar issue is on our list to look into as well.

Thanks!

Much appreciated. Was looking at DF as a means of getting taskbar labels back.

I'm the same as I would like to have labels and hate grouping taskbar icons. I want to see the file name of open documents. I also would like them only displayed on the monitor where they are located. I don't see these options with the new Windows 11 taskbar.

I haven't looked into what Windows 11 is changing yet, but am I correct in understanding what you said here to mean that Windows 11 makes it so DF cannot have ungrouped things on the taskbar? I am extremely anti-grouping on the task bar as I am a huge multitasker with 100 applications and browsers and spreadsheets open at a time--I NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE TITLES ON THE BAR WITHOUT HAVING TO MOUSE OVER.
I wish I could setup some kind of notification to lmk when DF supports doing this for Windows 11 and I will just wait until then to update to 11. Nothing Windows 11 could offer me would matter more than Displayfusion running properly with ungrouped icons with titles.

You can ungroup and show labels on the DF taskbar, but that doesn't help your taskbar on the primary display which remains the native Windows taskbar. And on Win 11... no ungrouping and no labels.
I did find a PERFECT solution about an hour ago... but I don't really want to advertise other software here.

So as it stands right now DF cannot overwrite the taskbar on the primary display at all for Windows 11?

That seems to be correct per Owen's reply to my initial post.

If a BFS rep tells me it's ok, I will share the solution I found. It is much smaller scope than DF, but I still don't feel right about it without their approval.

Please add my vote too. I find it utterly bizarre the way they've crippled the taskbar like that.

Correction - you CAN have only taskbar icons on the taskbar corresponding to the monitor they are open on with native Win11. Exploring more, I still have not found a way without extra software to ungroup icons. This is an awful move by MS. Looking forward to DF updates!

They have turned the taskbar into... a line of desktop icons-but without the option of labels on the icons, and you can't have multiple icons for the same application or filetype directly on the desktop (only by mousing over).
I think my biggest problem with this isn't the huge inconvenience this would cause me but with the lack of being able to come up with any sort of logical reasoning behind them deciding to do this.

I mean, I think it's clear they're sort of emulating the MacOS bar because it is nice aesthetically. In my opinion, multi-program tasking is the biggest advantage for a Windows PC over a Mac and the taskbar is a big part of that. I think the outcry will be enough that either MS or DF will fix this.

Hello,

@DrSuSE That's fine to post :)

@Bethany Brennan We have an advanced setting called "Show DisplayFusion taskbar on Windows taskbar monitor" that you can use to have both taskbars appear. We don't have a way to remove the windows taskbar and replace it with a DisplayFusion taskbar, although this is on our feature request list.

Thanks!

I don't know if it's because of StartAllBack, but since I've had both StartAllBack and DF installed, when I click on the Start Menu on my secondary display, it only opens the Start menu on my primary monitor.
Also, a feature I'd like to see in DF (once it's able to un-group taskbar buttons / windows) is the ability to drag and re-order taskbar buttons / windows by right clicking and dragging.

I've been a DisplayFusion user for 15+ years. Add my vote for replacing the Windoze 11 primary taskbar. Like many, I hate Windoze 11's lack of text labels. My two side monitors with DisplayFusion taskbars work perfectly, but having both Windoze and Displayfusion taskbars on the main monitor is clunky compared to the Windoze 10 full replacement.

One of the most important feature from DF is replacing the Win taskbar and make it look equal on all screens. It stopped working now when I'm running Win11.

In the meantime, for anyone who wants to hide the Windows taskbar manually: Use nircmd (https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html), set the Windows taskbar to Auto-hide and make it fully transparent with
nircmd win trans class Shell_TrayWnd 0
(
nircmd win trans class Shell_SecondaryTrayWnd 0
for second monitor). To make it visible again, use 255 instead of 0.

Ditto

I also use DF in combination with the open source ExplorerPatcher utility to use the Windows 10 taskbar (instead of the new crappy Windows 11 version). I restart Explorer to get icons to show up at the bottom of the screen (especially useful for Microsoft Teams).

Vote +1!

I got tired of my window positions jumping all over the place when sleep/resume, which lead me to DF. I was using ExplorerPatcher, thinking there was no better alternative, but DF seems amazing!

Please also add my vote. And I have an issue with icons on the taskbar. On previous versions or on windows 10 maybe, when I have opened one window on second monitor, the icon was shown only on the second monitor in the taskbar. Now it's on both taskbars. Thank you.

I'd pay another $20 as a premium tier of DisplayFusion, if you we can have Windows 10 Start Menu (all apps on left, and pinned start menu items on the right with grouping). #2 the ability to move the task bar top, left side, right side, bottom. 8) why would microsoft limit the start menu when they had all that desktop screen space to expand it. ::)

I also want to add my vote to this request. It really sucks having to use an additional application (StartAllBack, Start11, etc) to accomplish customizing the primary taskbar, because in most cases it seems like while those programs fix some issues, the incompatbilites caused by using two programs causes other, sometimes more annoying, issues to appear. Please help us

To change the label in the taskbar (primary screen and original Windows taskbar) you need to go to Settings -> Personalization -> Taskbar -> Taskbar Behavior
At the very bottom are the settings for the behavior of the taskbar display: the default grouping/labeling is never - simply change it to always or when full

I won't be moving to Windows 11 unless this Taskbarr problem is fixed.
And I won't be paying Microsoft for its extended support, either.
There are other ways to deal with this.
