Occasionally I use the built in functionality of Windows 11 Virtual Desktop. I noticed today that if I have Google Chrome or Microsoft Excel open on monitor #2, when I press <[ctrl][win]-[right-arrow]> to go to the next desktop, those apps move to that desktop. The app on monitor #1 stays on the previous virtual desktop, as it should.

I confirmed that it might be a setting or conflict with DisplayFusion 10.1.2 by exiting DF.
Windows 11 Virtual Desktop worked normally then, keeping all apps on the respective desktops they were opened on.

I must have inadvertantly changed a setting to cause this behavior. I disabled my triggers to test, but no change.

This behavior could be useful under certain projects for me, but I'd like to know what setting is causing this.

Thanks 🖖

UPDATE: After reading this thread, https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/windows-11-virtual-desktop/?ID=43cba738-bb21-47b5-b189-a227740d41b5, I tested by disabling the DF Taskbar & following Keith's line item #2; Both solutions work on Win 11 22H2 ...... That solved the mystery, but replaced it with a new one.....

For me, this is convenient since sometimes I want monitor 2 apps to be persistant across Win 11 Virtual Desktops and sometimes I don't. Searching for a hotkey to enable/disable the DF Taskbar now.

UPDATE ][

I can now turn persistant monitor 2 apps on or off, exploiting this Windows anomoly & conflict with DF taskbars.

  • Choose
    All taskbars show relavant windows
    for the Taskbar Mode.
  • Choose your fav key combination. Tested ✔️.
