Hi,

Today the Windows 8 developer preview was released by Microsoft. Windows 8 has a complete new interface called "Metro". The old desktop is only for classic application support. What will happen to Displayfusion with the new Metro interface? I tested the dev preview and I dind't like the new Metro interface.. You also can't set the old "desktop" as default..

Thanks

We've actually been testing it out this morning as well :)

We can't reveal our plans for the Metro UI, but stay tuned for more info on that.

As for DisplayFusion operating under the Desktop environment, the current version of DisplayFusion is somewhat broken, but 3.4.0 Beta 16 will be released shortly that will make most, if not all of the features work correctly in the Windows 8 Desktop, although some of them will need some tweaking to get working just right.

We're sure that the Desktop environment will still be a big part of Windows 8, and we'll make sure that DisplayFusion will be able to make the Desktop environment even better.

Thanks!

I hope so :) The Metro interface is great for smartphones and tablets and for basic pc operations (some browsing etc) but the real poweruser are going to want the desktop back.. So I cross my fingers Microsoft will see reason and implement the "desktop default" option.. I will keep an eye out for the next releases of Displayfusion!
