I am running Win8 Enterprise RTM and DF 4.1

I have observed the following items thus far:

1) On my second monitor, I have the DF taskbar on the top.
When I have a RDC (remote desktop connection) window open full screen, the DF task bar remains on top and I can not get to the RDC control strip that also show on the top of the screen (but now underneath the DF taskbar).

2) on my second monitor, when I'm showing any Win9 store app (metro app), and I want to show the Charms on the right side, and I move my mouse cursor to the upper right corner which normally brings up the Charms, the "minimize all" button on the DF task bar intercepts the mouse position and you can not get the charms to show at all.

I'm happy to provide more info as needed.

Thank you for the feedback!

I've tested out the taskbar issue on my system, and after I click inside the RDP session, it takes a few seconds, but the taskbar does move behind it. Alternatively, you can disable the "Show taskbar in front of fullscreen applications when they lose focus" option on the DisplayFusion Settings > Taskbar tab, and then it should always stay behind the RDP session.

Regarding the hot corners, I was able to reproduce that issue, so I've added it to our list and we'll hopefully be able to fix it up soon.

Thanks again!

Thanks!

I'll try the RDC workaround!

Additionally, add:

3) on second monitor, when using Lync, and share the 2nd monitor, the sharing control bar gets hidden behind the DF taskbar.
I tried the same setting you recommended for RDC, but that did not help.
My main Lync chat window is usually on 1st monitor, and I share my 2nd monitor.
The only way I can terminate sharing is a) disconnect the whole im/chat :(, or exit out of DF, turn of sharing, then turn DF back on.

For #2 and #3, it's as iff the DF taskbar is not properly reporting its "docked" space used, so applications still use the entire screen, and do not take the DF taskbar space into account.

As a friendly note, I realize that Win8 is brand new and there will be some of these things to work through.
Do not read these as 'complaints', but friendly observations to help get the product versioned for the future :)
I LOVE DF!!! and I LOVE WIN8.

Thanks,
Robert

No worries, we really do appreciate the feedback!

Is the taskbar on your primary monitor also on the top of the screen? If so, when you share that screen via Lync, does the sharing button sit on top of the taskbar, or just below it?

On my main monitor
When I share it via Lync, the Sharing bar is overlaid on TOP of the Taskbar, covering up/hiding the middle of the Taskbar.

Also note that the z-order behavior is not affected by which monitor the chat window happens to be in.

Thanks,
Robert

Ok cool. It'll take me some time to setup a Lync test environment, but I'll get one going and we'll see if we can get this issue fixed up.

Thanks!

It appears that the automatic task scheduling for switching between wallpaper profiles doesn't work too well with win8 either. My profiles are created, but when I hit run nothing happens, and nothing shows up in the history :(

I've confirmed the issue with the Windows Task Scheduler in Windows 8 here, and we're looking into it. I'll post an update as soon as we have one.

Thanks!

A more expedient approach may be to sign up for an Office365 trial or account which will give you the full OCS/Lync capability without having to install the server components yourself.

Then, just install the Lync client and point it to your O365 account and your all ready for testing. 15 minutes flat! :)

Here's a new one...

4) on my second monitor, when displaying most any App Store (Metro) app, the DF toolbar is layered on TOP of the application hiding the very top of the app. For some apps, that's no problem as it is empty border space. For other apps, it covers over critical information and/or controls.

Regardless, the app always use the actual full screen realestate and the DF toolbar is always layered on top of the app.

Yep, that one's a work in progress. We've fixed up most of the issues that cause the taskbar to be on top of Metro apps in 4.3 B2, and we're working on fixing up another one for 4.3 B3. I'll keep you posted as soon as it's available to try out.

Thanks!

Quick update, we've just released DisplayFusion 4.3 Beta 3, and the taskbar should no longer sit on top of Windows 8 Metro style apps, and it should now also hide behind full screen windows much quicker. Could you give it a try and let us know how it works out?

Thanks!

Oh, forgot to mention that DisplayFusionCommand.exe in 4.3 Beta 3 should now also work correctly in the Windows 8 Task Scheduler :)

Looking great.

Confirmed that the Metro apps now display on top of DF taskbar
etc.

The only think I have not tested yet is Lync monitor sharing...
The rest looks great :)

Sounds good! If you could test the final version of DisplayFusion 4.3 with your Lync screen sharing button, that would be great :)

Thanks!

I will try to test tomorrow :)

I'm having a weird problem, ever since I installed the beta per the above request, and even now after installing the final release,

Every time I reboot/restart DF, it tells me that "you beta license is about to expire..."

I checked the registration page and it still shows my [very lengthy] license key.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like it might have an auto-generated 30-day trial key configured at the moment. I've just emailed you a copy of your purchased key, can you try copy/pasting it into the license key tab?

Apologies for the delay in my testing response, production pressures :)

I have finally been able to do the Lync testing and it passed also :)
The DF toolbar move behind the Lync sharing window when Lync is full screen.

YEAH! :)

Many thanks for the great support and fast turnaround!
