WIndows ignore monitor splits when opening

I've just started trying to use DF today. When I apply splits, it appears to work (toolbars appear for each monitor, and background is split as instructed), but applications do not stay in their respective windows when opened. They just open normally. The windows do work correctly when I click "maximize" but every video I've watched of other people using this product showed the apps staying inside their monitor when opening as well. How can I fix this? It's honestly one of the main functions I want from this software. Any advice is appreciated.

DisplayFusion doesn't do it automatically by default, but it is possible to configure it that way. Are you wanting the apps to automatically open maximized to whichever split they were opened from?
