I have two monitor profiles I toggle between using hotkeys. When I invoke the one with two monitors DisplayFusion will always make the wrong monitor my primary monitor. If I invoke the profile a second time it will set the proper monitor as primary. I have remade the profile several times to try and fix this, but the problem is stil the same. When I envoke the profile the displays flicker several times as DisplayFusion is applying the settings. During one of these flikers I can see the correct monitor being set as primary, but the final flicker always ends up setting the wrong monitor as primary.

I would like some help with the issue or possibly file it as a bug if it is not already known. Please let me know what info you need from me as this is the first time I am asking for help with DisplayFusion.

Hi Owen, thanks for getting back me! I have installed the latest beta version and tested my configruations a few times and am happy to report that the issue seems to resolved. The proper monitor was set as the primary monitor every time I tested. Thanks again for getting back to me and addressing my issue!

I'm on DisplayFusion 10.1 (Beta 2) and I'm facing the same issue.
Switching between a 4K HDR screen and 3 1440p screens. If I load the profile with the 3 screens after switching from the 4K screen the wrong primary monitor is selected. If I load the profile again it selects the right primary monitor.

Could you send me over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Hello,

I'm having the same issue. When I switch to my 3 monitor profile it's choosing a wrong monitor as my primary. Windows 11 and Displayfusion 10.0 through Steam...

Thanks for sending that over, if you run the profile a second time does it set the correct primary monitor?

We've released a new beta with some further changes. Can you update, recreate your profiles, and see if the issue persists?

I am on the latest beta and I still have to click profile twice to get the proper primary monitor. Even then my windows are on the non primary monitor meaning they have to be moved over.

Is this still expected?

This should be fixed up with 10.1 beta 7, but you'll need to delete and recreate your profiles. Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

I have this issue in 10.1.2. Any updates? My solution for now is to use a custom script that loads the profile twice.

Edit: Upon further investigation, it does not happen all the time, but seems to happen consistently enough in my use case. I'll try to pinpoint the reproduction steps.

@William Henderson1: If you can reproduce the issue reliably, a debug log captured while reproducing the issue might point us in the right direction as well:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

I just reproduced it with debug logging on as requested. It occurred at 11:45PM, the name of the profile I was loading is called "DeskMonitors".

The profile I was coming from ("TV") has my two "Desk monitors" disabled, and my TV enabled as a monitor. This issue seems to happen any time I spend an extended period of time gaming on the TV profile.

Just a heads up that we're working on some changes for the next beta that should hopefully help out here. We'll follow-up as soon as it's available to try out.

Thanks!

Hello,
are there any news to a new beta version?

I have the exact same issue as the others in this thread.

I´m on DisplayFusion 10.1.2 (Steam).

Best regards

We've got a test build of DisplayFusion 11 Beta 1 that we're not quite ready to release to everyone through the auto-updater, but thought you might like to try out as it may resolve the issue you reported. This beta has some very big behind the scenes changes that will improve performance, speed up startup times, re-organizes the main settings window, and adds real time settings changes. We've done a lot of internal testing, but be prepared for a few bugs. We'll collect feedback over the holidays and review it all in January.

Please take a backup of your settings (Settings > Options > Export) before updating and store them outside of the default folder. If you need to roll back to 10.1.2, you can download it at https://www.displayfusion.com/Download/ and install it over top of the beta.

If you'd like to give it a try, you can download it here: https://www.binaryfortress.com/Data/Download/?Package=displayfusion&v11-test=1

Hi Keith,

thank you very much for the quick reply and for providing the Version 11 Beta 1.

So i tried it out and it´s still the same issue.

It´s a four screen setup, so: left, middle, right and one on top of the middle monitor.

A quick explanation of the issue:
First i set the middle monitor as primary screen, then i create the screen profile in Display Fusion.
Now when i switch to this screen profile, Display Fusion sets the left screen as primary and not the middle one.

Are there any log files or so which i can provide to fix this issue?

Best regards, happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! :)

Thanks for trying it out! If you could send a debug log from DF 11 Beta 1, that would be great:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Try loading the Monitor Profile and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

i wish you a happy new, successful year 2024! :)

i set everything up as you described and was ready to reproduce the issue.

For some reason it works now on DF 11 Beta 1.

If the issue is coming back, i will head back to this thread.

Thank you very much for the support!

Is it possible to get a beta link for this that was mentioned above? Link isn't working anymore. Sorry I came back to this thread as I never got this bug fixed, but just never took the time to work on getting it fixed. Would like to try the beta and see if that sorts it. If not I can send you the logs.

So I downloaded beta 11, deleted and recreated all my profiles, but the problem still persists. Attaching the log files, I believe the time was right around 23:39 when I attempted to change profiles. I went from my single monitor profile, to my multimonitor profile once, and then a second time going to the same multimonitor profile to fix the wrong primary window issue.

I have this problem with 11 beta 2. It's sorted if the monitor profile is applied twice but obviously ideally it wouldn't need this additional step.

It will be sorted in the next beta release - did I understand this right?

So when we get a fix? 11 Beta 02 is from Jan. 24. This is annoying. I use it only to switch from 1 Screen to 3 Screen so only 2 Profiles nothing special. But it change the Mainscreen always to the other one.

unfortunately it still isn't working just as before. it also seems to a bit buggier and slower when switching to my 3 monitor profile. it does the weird little monitor effect thing up to 3 or 4 times.
