During the installation of DF, there is no ability to select English-United States as the desired language. In the list of languages in the Language folder there is en.lang (which shows up as a Canadian flag) and en-us.lang (which shows up as a US flag). As a side note, should there not be a English-Great Britian language.

As a component of my system housekeeping and security, I use program CCleaner to clean out unneeded files from my system. Via the Winapp2.ini addition to CCleaner, I have cleanup code that removes thousands of unneeded language files that needlessly get installed by various third party programs, one of which is DisplayFusion. This has been on my system for over a year and has been executed on many previous version of DisplayFusion. HOWEVER, with DF V4.2.0Beta2, a language issue/error has appeared when I delete all languages files in %ProgramFiles%\DisplayFusion\Language folder except en-us.lang The language issue/error if I leave in en.lang along side en-us.lang.

This self induced error that suddenly has appeared with Beta2 is something that is not a "bug" in DisplayFusion. However, I hope that you can look into it because I do like to keep unneeded files cleaned off my system. And thousands of languages files are unneeded when a system has a lot of third party programs...which most of us do.

The attached pictures show the problems.

The installer language files are separate from the DisplayFusion language files, and we just didn't break them out into separate versions of English for the installer. We actually are also going to be adding English UK soon as well :)

On first run, DisplayFusion will try to detect the best language based on the Windows culture code, so if your computer is set to United States in the locale, it should select EN-US automatically. On subsequent updates, it should just use the last selected language, and not try to auto-detect it.

DisplayFusion should definitely work fine even if you only have the single en-us.lang file in the installation directory. The missing Languages tab is expected, as it's not necessary if there's only one language installed. Did that language file error show up when you clicked the "Load Next Image" item in the context menu?

Actually, I was able to reproduce this issue here, so we'll hopefully have it fixed up for the next beta. Thanks for letting us know about it. Have a great weekend!

We've just released 4.2 Beta 3, and this issue should be all fixed up.

Thanks!

This issue still exists in Beta 3.

To duplicate:

1. Close DF

2. Remove all languages except en-us.lang

3. Restart DF.
- Error message concerning language not being found is issued.
- No Language section shows up on the Settings windows.

If there's only one language file, the DisplayFusion Settings will hide the Languages tab, as it's not needed, so that's the expected behaviour :)

As for the error that you get after you restart, does it look like the one in the attached screenshot? If so, that's expected the first time you restart DisplayFusion, but shouldn't show up on subsequent restarts.

The displayed window is what I am experiencing, yes. My question is why does the installer keep reverting my installation to en.lang instead of leaving it en-US.lang (I am located in West Virginia, USA) ? If DF's language is set to English (United States) and a new release of DF is over installed, should not the installer see that the language is English (United States) and leave it at that so that the English (Canadian) should never come into play?

With only En-us.lang in the Language folder, I get the error shown here when a Wallpaper change is attempted...either as scheduled or manually initiated via Desktop Wallpaper Settings>Load Next Image

It definitely should remember the language that you had it set to. I'll do some more testing here to see what I can find out.

Thanks!

Oops, I misspoke. The problem is back following a system reboot.

I thought it was fixed. However, when the scheduled wallpaper change occurred, Beta 4 could not find a language.

Ok, we've just released 4.2 Beta 5. Could you give it a try? It should hopefully be all fixed up this time.

Thanks!
