Almost every time I put my PC to sleep, then wake my Icons are all crammed into the upper left most monitor and I have to use the restore desktop icons profile. (this became a problem when I switched to two 24" display port monitors) I'm lazy and would love a feature in Display Fusion that detected a sleep/wake cycle and did this for me. Additionally if Display Fusion could detect that the system is shutting down it should save the current icon layout and restore it upon launch (toggleable enabled/disabled, of course.)

The sleep/resume thing might be possible with a scripted function. I'll keep you posted next week on that.

As for saving when shutting down, unfortunately we tried to make that work in the past, but by the time DisplayFusion gets notified of the impending shutdown, it's too late to save the desktop icon positions :(

Ok, we've created a scripted function for you, here are the steps to set it up:
This functionality is now available using a Scripted Function. We've written an example one for you. Here's how to set it up:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Functions tab, click the "Download Scripted" button
  • Double-click the script named "Save/Restore Desktop Icon Profile on Sleep/Resume"
  • Give it a key combination and click OK
  • Optionally, select it, click "Toggle TitleBar Button" (to add it to the caption bar of every application)
  • Click Apply and test it out

You'll need to run the function manually to start it, and then it should run in the background. If it seems to work for you, let me know and I'll give you instructions on how to set it to run on startup :)

Thanks!

Seems to work! Sorry for the late reply, work has been keeping me on my toes and hasn't left a lot of time to mess around with my other stuff.

Side Note - I tried the Save/Restore Window Positions on Sleep/Resume as well, but it didn't seem to work. I'll keep an eye on it, though.

Excellent, glad to hear it! The sleep/resume script is finicky, because sometimes by the time DF has received the message that the system is sleeping, it's too late to save the positions :(
