Hello all,

I am new to this site and Displayfusion is a pretty well organized, easy to follow application. However, I noticed when I have 3DS Max open (and it seems to only be specific to this program), accessing a menu within the application while having the changing wallpapers will make me "deselect" out of the menu as if I clicked out of the area. Fortunately, it does not affect how I select say polygons on an object and it only seems to affect the menu subsets. However, this is still annoying to deal with as I would love to have my wallpapers change on my main screen but keep 3DS Max open without having to turn random images off.

We've had a few other customers run into this issue with other programs as well, but we're still trying to sort it out as we haven't been able to reproduce it here.

Would you be able to attach a copy of the info from the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab?

Thanks!

Keith,

Thank you for replying to my post.

I apologize that I didn't use a better capturing software but I hope this will show you what is going on on my desktop.

http://www.livestream.com/keeblet/video?clipId=pla_5239998c-c1b0-4207-a9d4-bfc13a47d2ad&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb (Didn't realize it recorded my other monitor past 1:45 but I showed both with changing wallpapers and without anyway).

It may appear as if I am clicking out of the area but I am really not. Additionally, you may notice that the mouse cursor refreshes randomly fairly frequently.

Edit:

I tried to post the DisplayFusion.log file as well but it doesn't seem to be coming up.

---------------

Never mind, I had to first shut off DisplayFusion since it always actively updates that log file.

Ok, interesting! Thanks for the video! I don't think I'll be able to test 3DS Max here unfortunately as we don't have a license for it, but I'm going to try a few things out and hopefully I'll be able to reproduce this here. If you come across it in any other programs on your machine, can you let me know?

Keith,

If you need any other files possibly to help resolve the issue, I would be happy to help. Another interesting thing I have come across is that in other similar programs such as Autodesk Maya (64 bit if this matters), I have no issues with flickering, refreshing cursor, or disappearing menu sets. Even in other applications such as browser apps (e.g. Firefox) or Adobe Photoshop CS6 I do not have this problem. It's a little unfortunate that I need to turn the 'Load Random Images' off whenever working inside of 3DS Max which is quite frankly, a lot.

Sounds good Jason, we'll definitely let you know if we need more information, and if we have anything new to try out.

Quick question: If you close all other programs on your machine, maybe even disable everything except for DisplayFusion from starting up using the msconfig Startup tab, does this issue still occur if you only have DisplayFusion and 3DS Max running? Just wondering if any other programs might be contributing to this issue.

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

As requested, I have disabled all of my startup programs from running and ran 3DS Max after making DisplayFusion load images randomly and it still closes out of menu sets just as before. Again, the issue is not present in other 3D applications such as Autodesk Maya so I feel there is some strange incompatibility with 3DS Max and Display Fusion.

Ok, thanks for testing that anyways. We've had a few other customers report similar issues with other programs, but it doesn't seem to be consistent between any of them, so I was just wondering if it had to do with a specific background program.

At this point, I'm running out of ideas of what to check, but I'm going to keep this on my list and I'll be sure to let you know when I need more info.

For this issue, I think the best option is to try to narrow it down to a specific beta version in which it broke. Would you be interested in trying some older versions of DisplayFusion to see if we can narrow down where the issue started?

Sure, now that summer is here, I can test whichever beta version you think that the glitch started to occur.

We've just released DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta 6 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/), and this issue should hopefully be all fixed up. Could you give it a try when you have a chance and let me know how it works out?

Thanks!

Keith,

Good news! I have left my computer while Displayfusion was randomly loading images and kept one of the menus in 3DS Max 2013 open and when I came back, it was still there! So in short, Beta 6 does work and I am not sure what you exactly changed in this revision but it does work where as v5.1.0 does not work. If you still need help troubleshooting the rest of the beta versions to really pin down what caused the problem, let me know.

Awesome, that's great to hear! The current stable version is 5.0.1, and the current beta is 5.1 Beta 6. So going forward with the 5.1 Beta versions (and the 5.1 stable once it's released) this issue will be all fixed up :)

Thanks for your patience while we got this issue sorted out!
