I have a three monitor configuration, left to right, Portrait, Landscape and Portrait. I have the multi-monitor taskbar enabled, every day I tend to remote desktop in early on then login on the console and then remote desktop in again later in the day. After some period of time of repeating this the mutli-monitor taskbar takes 60 seconds to reconfigure from it's remote desktop location to the actual monitor location. I watch it draw multiple bars down the screen one at a time and then remove the top one, one at a time until there is only one left at the button of each monitor. Sometimes I end up without a taskbar on the right monitor and have to exit DisplayFusion and start it again.

I am running Windows 2008 R2 x64 with two PCI-E video cards, NVidia GT220 and GT430

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mike

That's really strange! I'll definitely test this out here. To clarify, it doesn't happen the first time you login through RDP and then directly on the console, but only after doing that a bunch of times?

Yes that is correct it happens over time, at a guess it's maybe like once a week I have to exit it and run it again.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue here yet after about 20 RDP/console logins. Would you be able to do the following to help troubleshoot this issue?
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: Important Only) and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue (please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file)
  • Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log

Thanks!

I did setup debugging and will let you know as soon as it repeats (probably mon/tues) but I just remembered another detail that I should let you know about when I remote desktop into the machine I use these arguments to remote desktop /w:2800 /h:1160

BTW do you know if I accidently created two Mike Thomas accounts or is there really another Mike Thomas? (ie does the first Mike Thomas have an email address in the same domain as my email?)

Thanks Mike, we'll review this log and hopefully be able to see what's causing your issue to occur!

Regarding your accounts, it looks like the other account is indeed also on your domain. Would you like me to merge it into your current one?

The log has some useful information, and we have an idea as to why this might be happening. We're going to make a change for 5.1 Beta 6, so I'll let you know as soon as it's available to test out.

Thanks!

We've just released DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta 6 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/), and this should hopefully be fixed up. Could you give it a try when you have a chance, and let me know how it works out?

Thanks!

It did seem to work a couple times, but today when I logged in it took forever again to finish reconfiguring (ie it showed like 7 bars on the left monitor and it slowly went down to 1 and then the right monitor went to half a bar and then back to a full bar then finally the middle monitor bar turned translucent and it gave me back explorer)

I'm running the latest Beta right now and while it's better it still does take 25 seconds to become usable each time I log into the console.

Ok, and is that still happening only after having logged in a bunch of times previously? Or does it now do it even on the first login?
