Previously this year, after a windows update, some tray icons were missing from the multi-monitar taskbar. Eventually, the issue resolved itself, I assumed via an update to either Display Fusion or Windows.
(I have my taskbar set to display all the tray icons on both monitors)
However, since last week, this issue returned with the most recent windows update.

Is this a known issue? If needed I can dig in and get my windows/DF versions and provide logfiles.

I tested Dropbox, Discord, and Xbox on my end and they all seemed to work fine. Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Here is the file! I thought maybe it was related to the number of items, rather than the specifics, but changing them around results in the same behavior (same icons hidden), if that helps at all as well.

Thanks for sending that over. Can you update to our latest beta and let me know if there's any change?

Hey Owen, I just tried that this evening, but it did not seem to fix the issue. I've attached logs from using the Beta version if that might help out.

That's really weird, we tested it on a few different machines here and it works fine. Could you send me a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Hey Owen, sorry for a late reply on this - I've been away from my PC.

I spent some time going through my PC to see what could be contending with this, and I was able to fix it.

What ended up happening was some contention with a tool I use called "ExplorerPatcher". The tool was outdated and Microsoft Defender was blocking an update. Once I updated that to the latest version, the issue was corrected upon a system reboot.

I am very sorry to waste the dev time looking into this when the issue was external. Is there anything I can provide for more known issue tracking for this software comptability that may be useful?
