The 4.0 option of using on-line sources (like bing or google) is very poor. Either it loads a very limited number of pictures OR the randomization routine is very poor. I have seen the same picture MANY times in just the past hour. Is there a setting that I am missing or something. I am running the PRO version 4.0.

Bing and Google have some limitations on their APIs, so unfortunately we can't force them to load more images than they currently return :(

As for the randomization, there's no way for us to currently track which images have been shown, so when Google for example only returns a small amount of images, there's a good chance that the same image will get shown frequently. I will however add this to our list for further investigation, to see if there's a way for us to keep a history of the images shown and then not show them again for a certain amount of time.

Thanks!

Well...I thought this would be a nice way to pull in some different pictures along a subject line. Is there a better reference than bing or google for this? I just figured when you use bing or google as your search engine...all kinds of pictures are returned...so I figured there would be really no limitations at all.

Have you tried the Flickr option? You can usually find some pretty decent images there as well, and their API doesn't seem to be as limited. We're hoping to add some more providers in the future as well :)

DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta 3 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) is now available, and the random wallpaper from online sources now keeps track of which ones have been shown, so that it won't show them again in quick succession.

Thanks!

could you make offline sources do this?, like show a random wallpaper from a folder, until every wallpaper in that folder is shown, then re-start the random selection process?

When you use the "My Computer" source, it does actually do this :)

I have a question that is sort of off topic. With Bing, and even the other searches, if you "Load More Images" does that increase the number of images that are available for random selection? Does it have a bearing on the results?

Nope, the Load More Images is only for the preview box.

If I don't like an image, is there a way to force Display Fusion to load a new random image?

Yep! Just press Ctrl + Win + R, or right-click the tray icon and navigate to Desktop Wallpaper Settings > Load Next Image.
