is there a way for this program to figure out which monitors are connected and than set or engage certain profile to said combination of monitors?

At the moment it's not possible. When we originally implemented the Monitor Profiles feature, some monitors were unreliable at providing uniquely identifying information, like their serial #. However, we're going to re-visit this to see if it's something we could reliably implement. If we're able to add it in a future version, I'll be sure to let you know :)

Thanks!

Using DF on my Surface Pro 3, I have found that this feature would be very nice to have too.
At home I connect to 2 monitors, but on the go (school, work, etc) it is just the surface display.
It would be nice if the system/DF could just switch my settings for me.
Yes it is a LOT of work to do maybe 4 mouse clicks to do the changes myself. :D
