Hi Binary Fortress Team!

I'm using DisplayFusion for some time now and I really have to say that I LOVE it.
But there are a few issues for some time now and it would be great if you guys could take care of it. Especially because I noticed you started working on the next major version. I'm using V4.3 now with Win7x64.

1. Container highlighting:
When the mouse is over an taskbar container, the container is highlighted "rectangular" although the container has "rounded" edges. And there is also one row below the container which is highlighted too, althought it should not be highlighted. I've made some screenshots for you to show you what I mean:

2. Mouse over glowing:
On the Windows taskbar, when the mouse enters the taskbar container area, the glowing fades in. And when the mouse leaves the area of the container the glowing fades out. On the DisplayFusion taskbar though, there is no fading effect. I attached a video for comparison.

3. Settings slowdown:
Since a couple of versions it always takes several seconds to open the Settings dialog or the About dialog because every time these dialogs were opened, DisplayFusion tries to access VeriSign which somehow seems to take some time.

4. Outpost Firewall Pro compatiblity:
The taskbar container for this application is not displayed by DisplayFusion.

5. Preview Window:
The appearance of the preview window is not exactly the same as on the windows taskbar. The position of the window is not correct, there is no drop shadow and the size of the preview is slightly different. See screenshot for details.

6. Moving a taskbar container:
Of course I know you are aware that DisplayFusion has a different "move-a-container-by-mouse" behavior than the windows taskbar. I know that there is a lot of coding necessary to emulate the original behavior, but I just would like to know if you guys have any plans on implementing that?

7. Icon position:
Taskbar container icon moves down 1 pixel when you right click on it. Take a close look on the icon in the video.

8. Taskbar container notification:
The graphical notification in the taskbar container looks different. The green moving bar looks much bigger and the orange blinking behavior is different too. On Displayfusion the blinking does not stop until you click on the container. On windows it blinks 3 times very slowly and then the container just stays orange.

p.s. You might need to watch the videos in fullscreen to see the details.

I'm looking forward to hear from you.
Best regards

Thank you for the excellent feedback Seraph! We'll be reviewing these points in more detail later this week. I can't promise that we'll be able to fix all of these things, as some can be very tricky, or even impossible, but we'll do our best! I'll be sure to post any updates as soon as we have them.

Thanks!

Thank you for your reply, Keith!

I have to make a short addendum regarding #5: The original preview window does not have a static size as I thought at first. The aspect ratio of the window that is previewed has to be considered. What I found out now is, that the outer width of the preview window always seems to be 235 pixels and the height depends on the aspect ratio.

Best regards

Hi,

I saw V5.0.1 came out today. Unfortunately none of the issues I mentioned above were fixed.
Can you tell me if and when these things will be fixed?
I would really appreciate that.

Best regards

We haven't had a chance to look into all of the issues yet, but they're still on our list. Unfortunately I can't offer an ETA at the moment though.

We did get a chance to look at Outpost Firewall, and it doesn't look like we can fix the taskbar button. If I disable the "Self-Protection" option in Outpost, then the taskbar button works correctly, so it looks like it's blocking DisplayFusion from reading the information it needs.

We've just released DisplayFusion 5.1 Beta 6 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/), and the issue where the taskbar button icon moves down 1px is now fixed up. The other issues are still on our list :)

Thanks!
