System Tray icons on Multi-Monitor not working

User Image

System Tray icons on Multi-Monitor doesn't work on my other monitors. I right clicked the task bar on the secondary monitors by going to Multi-Monitor Taskbar -> System Tray Icons -> Right/Left/Automatic (all doesn't work). I re-installed version 9.9 and still doesn't work. Was there an update that removed Show/Hide??

The 3rd monitor does not show the system icons, the number 1 and 2 does.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for sending that over. If you move that taskbar to the bottom, do those icons come back?

Thanks!

No changes. Still no system icons. The only work around is dragging primary bar over to the third monitor. However, primary ends up with no system icons.

Could you send me over a backup of your settings? You can grab them in the DisplayFusion Settings > Options > Export Settings.

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem here with Windows 11 Insider builds after 25267. Don't know if it's related to that or not, but up until 25267 the systray icons showed up in the secondary display taskbar and now they don't.

Changing the position of the taskbar, autohide or the "System tray icons" setting to Left, Right or Automatic doesn't fix it.

Tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling DisplayFusion but still same problem.

I did a windows update today to build 22621.1344 and my system tray icons are missing on the displayfusion taskbars.
Microsoft must have changed something.
DF version is beta 19.

We are aware of this issue with the latest Windows 11 builds. We have it on our list to look into so we'll post here if we have any news going forward.

Thanks!

Thanks, same as others, this just occurred after the latest Win 11 update. Would reverting to latest stable build fix it in the interim?

Same issue here. After installing the Moment 2 update for Windows 11, my DF Multi-Monitor taskbars no longer show the up arrow to expand the tray icons. The only tray icons showing are network, volume and battery. No up arrow to see all the other tray icons.

Sorry this is a kind of a dealbreaker for me. I'm not planning to stop using this software obviously, but my 2nd screen system tray is useless now. I never knew how much I used it until it was rendered useless.

We're looking into finding a reliable work around, the changes made in that version of Windows have made this pretty difficult to fix unfortunately :(

Installed beta 25 and the up arrow returned upon first launch after install of beta 25. After a reboot, the up arrow is gone again... Until I open the Start Menu then it magically appears again.

I forgot to mention when I uploaded my clip; I don't turn on auto-hide on my taskbars.

Had to disable StartAllBack and then clicking the arrow and dropping and ordering the systray icons again on the Windows taskbar made them appear on the DisplayFusion Taskbar BUT... the order is all wrong. This is the main windows taskbar systray:

and this what DisplayFusion shows on the secondary taskbar:

It even shows the HWinfo main icon, which is hidden in the Windows taskbar, and doesn't show the FxSound icon at all:

Tried reordering and taking them in and out of the 'hidden' zone but didn't work: the FxSound (www.fxsound.com) icon never shows up and the HWinfo64 (www.hwinfo.com) icons are all wrong.

So, back to Beta 22 for now for me.

Beta 26 solved all the problems. Great job guys! 👍

Only things is:

1. Icons have a lot more empty space between them than the original taskbar:

2. Doesn't work with StartAllBack. Have to disable StartAllBack every time you want a new icon to show in the DisplayFusion secondary taskbar.

@MikeTeruel Unfortunately there isn't anything we can do here. With the updates Microsoft made to the tray, DisplayFusion needs to see the tray from the Windows taskbar for it to load

@JesusPedrosa1 Glad to hear! I was able to reproduce the wider icons. If you press the start menu on the Windows taskbar, does it update with the new icon?

I've got a similar problem...not sure how to take pictures to show whats happening.

On monitor 2, the tray icons will show up when displayfusion loads, then after a little bit (30s-2min), all but 3 of them will disappear. I've tried messing with the settings in the multi-monitor taskbar menus, but nothing seem to bring them back. What's weird is that the icons that are showing aren't even all the icons showing on my main display. Main display has 4 icons showing plus the overflow, the secondary shows only 3.

So I've been using a little addon to Windows 11 called ExplorerPatcher. It brings back the windows 10 ability to show all the windows on the taskbar. It ran an update and that seems to be what caused my issue. I uninstalled it and everytrhing seems to be working properly now.

I meant the StartAllBack taskbar. DisplayFusion taskbar's systray icons do not synchronize at all with the systray icons (and their positions) from the StartAllBack's main taskbar.

Even with the last DisplayF beta 3 update i still had the problem,so it's definetly fixed from their side.
Updating to the last available windows version fixed it for me.

FxSound taskbar button still only appears on the main Windows taskbar.

When the app window is moved to other display the taskbar button doesn't move to the DisplayFusion taskbar. It remains in the main taskbar...

They seem to be working fine here, could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached

Ah this is probably still related to running StartAllBack. Is it the tray icons that are missing, or the overflow buttons?

Both the tray icons and the overflow button. But yes, disabling StartAllBack fixes it.

When you have StartAllBack installed, does it remove the overflow button from the Windows taskbar as well?

StartAllBack doesn't work ok for me in this build. The taskbar in the primary display was the Windows one when I reported the DisplayFusion taskbar not displaying tray icons.
Then I checked the "disable for this user" option in StartAllBack anyway and the tray icons started appearing in the DisplayFusion taskbar.
Now I can enable StartAllBack again but it doesn't change anything when I activate it: the main taskbar is still the Windows one and the secondary taskbar from DisplayFusion displays the tray icons correctly.

Anyway... I don't need StartAllBack anymore, as now the Windows taskbar buttons displays text labels again, which was the main reason I started using StartAllBack.

Thanks for confirming, we've released a new beta that should fix up the FXsound app as well.

And again back to the same problem: *all* tray icons gone in latest 10.1.1 in Win 11 25941... but was working ok in the previous DF beta, that is not available to download anymore for downgrading. 🤦

Why?

It's pretty weird, I have the same build ( 25947 ) in 2 different machines now, but it happens in one machine only.

Also, the FxSound tray icon doesn't show up in neither.

Did you ever have StartAllBack installed on the machine that works fine?

We still have the tray icon on our list, but the taskbar icon should be showing up now.

Yes, I have the same StartAllBack installed on both machines, BUT it is disabled in both.

Yes, FxSound shows up now in the taskbar at least, but not in the tray area.

Could you create a new thread and send over a debug log? Here are the steps:

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

I cannot "reproduce the issue". It doesn't happen at a certain point or step. Happens all the time, even with your recent 10.1.2 beta 1.
Tray icons in DF taskbars doesn't show up at all, only the perpetual Network and Audio combo, but none of the rest.

On the right is the Windows taskbar and tray area and on the left is the DF taskbar..

Here's the log.
