A few strange bugs, was hoping someone may be able to give me some insight.

First bug - There's quite a gap between the edge of the screen, and the start button. I've tried everything... even went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling both DisplayFusion and Classic Shell. No luck.

Second Bug - When I click on the start menu on my second monitor, and select 'All Programs', the sub menu decides to open to the left of the menu, overlapping onto my first monitor. It's unusable :(.

Any ideas guys?

The gap is there by design, to allow room for the Windows 8 Start Screen hot corner, but well investigate a bit further to see if we should remove it, or provide an Advanced Setting to disable it.

Regarding the menu opening to the left: This unfortunately appears to be a compatibility issue with the Classic Shell Start menu being moved over to the other screen. We've talked to the Classic Shell developer about it, but he doesn't seem interested in working with us to fix it up :(

To be fair, that sounds a wee disingenuous - after all, he did offer (in public) to entertain any meagre code necessary for 3rd party folk to manipulate their own back-doors (pseudo-API's, etc). But like any good coder, he helps those who help themselves - as in, "it's for your customers - why should I write it for you?" (Id est, "You lads get paid for this malarkey.")

Fair enough, and I do apologize if I made it sound like we were expecting him to do the work for us. I hadn't seen the thread where he mentioned that we could submit code changes to him, and was only going on his answer in this thread: http://sourceforge.net/p/classicshell/discussion/1049755/thread/d6e96e49/?limit=25#f78c

With that said, we'll definitely have a look at the Classic Shell source code to see if there are any changes we can submit to him in order to help it work better with DisplayFusion.

Thanks!

Yeah, sorry, I should have referred the thread I was going by - Jon had replied to it, so I thought it was known: http://sourceforge.net/p/classicshell/discussion/1049755/thread/c392963e/

The dev, it must be said, was caught somewhat unawares that you had been incorporating CS into (commercial) DF (back when you were, initially) - and so his answers could seem a bit surly. Not that you did anything wrong, but it's one of those "it'd be nice if they had asked first" type of thing.

Ah, the evil world of commerce. :)

Not sure who to thank for the coding, prodding, poking, or general "leave the gun, take the Cannoli" result, but it should be noted that the latest release of Classic Shell
http://classicshell.sourceforge.net (3.6.3) solves the problem of submenus opening to the reverse on alternate monitors. :)

Glad to hear it guys! I believe Jon and Ivo worked together on it, but Ivo definitely did the hard work in getting it fixed up, so a big thanks goes out to him for sure!

Any update on that gap that appears on the second monitor in front of the start button?

@Jer1: It's on our list to be investigated still, so we'll be sure to post an update when we have one.

Thanks!

Just wanted to follow-up with you and let you know that in DisplayFusion 5.0 Beta 8 (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/), there's a new option in the Advanced Settings to remove the gap beside the Start button in Windows 8. The setting you're looking for is under the Taskbar section, and is called "Remove Hot Corner Padding (Win8)."

Thanks!
