I have used Display fusion for several years and cant live without it however, I also use VMWare in full screen mode on 2 of my 3 monitors with Display Fusion.

On my host desktop I am one of the geeks that place my taskbar at the top of the screen and not the bottom. In the guest, I have my taskbar at the bottom only due to this issue.

The Issue;

When using VM, I am always in fullscreen mode. However, when I have focus of the VM (ie. Working inside), my taskbars from my host are visable. As shown in the screenshot, the top taskbar is the position of my host's. and the bottom is the position of my guest. The windows taskbar hides behind the VM (as seen in the 2nd monitor) but the DF taskbar is still visable even in the VM preventing me from accessing the application tabs, buttons, etc. The only way to stop this is to move the DF to another position. If I place it at the top I cannot access the start menu or app buttons etc.

I searched for this issue and found nothing. Am I the only one who is dealing with this? Any suggestions on a fix possibly.

Thanks in advance

On the Taskbar tab in the DisplayFusion settings, can you try disabling the "Show taskbar in front of fullscreen applications when they lose focus" option?

I tried this and it still does not work. The DF task bars from the host is still visible only the main Windows taskbar is hidden.

Ok, I'll do some testing with this early next week and I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

I've tested this with DisplayFusion 3.4.0 Beta 12 and unfortunately haven't been able to reproduce it. Which version of DisplayFusion are you running? If you're not on the latest beta version, could you give it a try? You can download it from here: http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/

Thanks!

I am currently on beta 12. I did a full uninstall reboot and reinstall and I get the same results. If I use the VM with all 3 monitors it will not show the hosts taskbars as intended but if I am using 2 as I always do the second monitor will show both the guests and hosts.

The only way to show no host task bar is to use all 3 monitors or rdp into the VM.

I still haven't had any luck reproducing it but I'm also using the VMware 2011 beta. Not sure if that's making a difference at all.

Could you do the following? I'd like to check the debug logs to make sure that DisplayFusion isn't putting the taskbar on top when VMware is running.

- Open the DisplayFusion settings
- Click the Troubleshooting tab
- Check the "Enable debug logging" box and click Apply
- Setup VMware so that the host's DF taskbar is showing on top and wait 30-60 seconds
- On the Troubleshooting tab in DisplayFusion, click the "Open Log Location" button
- Email the "DisplayFusion.log" text file to me as well as the info from the Troubleshooting tab

Thanks!

It looks like the issue is fixed with VMware Workstation 2011, and we're unfortunately not able to resolve it for the older versions.

Thanks!
