Hello,

I've upgraded to beta 5 and since, I'm having a problem with my wallpapers. Using different wallpaper for both monitor (problem also present when using same or span), the wallpaper would show on login. After logon, everything is fine until the first wallpaper refresh (and all next wallpaper change). I will see the fade in/out animation for the wallpaper change but once the animation is stopped, the screen become black.

Funny thing is, the Desktop Live Title properly show my background. Switching to a windows theme doesn't fix the issue. This bug appeared since I installed Beta 5 and wasn't present in the latest stable.

In windows personalization screen, it shows "Wallpaper_1" as wallpaper and black wallpaper, no image. If I switch for something else then DF, it work.

I noticed this too. It happened since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (I think). Or it might be the beta 5 upgrade. You can fix it by turning off the transition animation.

In Display Fusion go to "Desktop Wallpaper", select "Wallpaper Settings" button located at the bottom of the window. Uncheck the option that says "Use Transitions when changing Wallpaper (Windows 7 and higher)".

This fixed the problem for me. Good luck.

It did fix it, thanks. But everything was working fine on the latest stable release, so it's a new bug from Beta 5 (maybe another beta before too), but isn't present in latest stable release.

We're making a lot of changes to the wallpaper code again for 5.1.1 Beta 6, so this will hopefully be fixed up when it gets released. If not, please let me know :)

Thanks!

5.1.1 Beta 6 is available now, could you give it a try and let me know how it works out?

Thanks!

I have been having this problem as well ever since I went to Windows 8.1. I was running 5.x release at the time (late Oct), and went to whatever beta was available at the time to see if it was resolved (maybe beta 4 or 5).

I have been running 5.1.1 Beta 6 for a day or so and it has not fixed it.

The wallpaper shows up, but when it transitions to another image, the wallpaper then disappears and my background goes black (default color).

The Lock screen wallpaper is fine.

Ok, we're going to keep at it. There are still some kinks that need to be worked out of the new wallpaper code that we introduced in 5.1, so we'll let you know as soon as we have another beta to try.

Thanks!

Glad I found this thread- I was having some issues with disappearing wallpapers as well and unticking "Use transitions when changing wallpaper" did the trick.

Previously my solution was:

Set the wallpaper configuration in DisplayFusion, watch it change then go black.
Right click Desktop -> Personalize
Click Desktop Background

You'll notice that the DisplayFusion wallpaper is not selected for some reason- if you select it everything works. But it messes up again at the next change.

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (5.1.1 Beta 7) (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and the wallpaper issues should be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

It seems that this issue has returned on version 6.0.0 (Beta 5). Running Windows 8.1 (64 Bit), if I disable the transition option my wallpapers change and appear normally. However when I enable the transition effect I just get black screens for backgrounds.

Could you give 6.0 Beta 6 a go? This should hopefully be all fixed up. Please make sure to reboot after installing 6.0 Beta 6.

Thanks!

The black wallpaper issue occurs with 6.0.0 beta 7. Switching off the "Use Transitions when changing Wallpaper (Windows 7 and higher)" option prevents this happening.

Could you check to see if the following Windows setting is enabled or disabled?

Control Panel > Ease of Access Center > Make the computer easier to see > Turn off unnecessary animations

If it's enabled, could you disable it, then try the DF wallpaper again?

Thanks!

The "Turn off unnecessary animations" setting is not enabled. All the settings are the same as in your screenshot.

I have attached a debug log. I took a copy of this just after seeing the black screen with the "Use Transitions when changing Wallpaper" setting switched back on.

@Sparkplug: Thanks!

If anyone else in this thread is also having this issues still (wallpaper changing to black after transition animation is done), could you also attach a copy of the info from the Settings > Troubleshooting tab?

Just wanted to follow-up with you to see if you're still running into this issue with the latest beta (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/). If you're still having trouble, please let me know :)

Thanks!
