Jon,

I'm pretty sure you addressed this some time ago, but it reappeared.

When DF checks for a version update, usu. after Windows logon, and fails because of no connectivity, it pops up a balloon to say it failed to connect. Since the user is usually aware of connectivity (or lack thereof) and since update checking is never critical, I once again recommend that you remove the balloon notification as a nuisance.

I thought this was fixed as well. I'll take away that pesky balloon starting with Beta 2. Thanks! :)

In Beta 4, I got another cannot connect bubble. Different this time. Sorry I wasn't fast enough to catch it before it started disappearing, but it is readable.

Do you have any firewall (or anti-malware or anti-anything) software installed, or are you using the Windows firewall?

I use Zone Alarm, but Windows Firewall is not disabled as far as I know.

Since I was attached to the Internet this morning (and had just installed BETA 5 yesterday), I got a Zone Alarm popup. Pressing DENY (not perm but for this run), I got the bubble again, captured it, and attached it.

It looks like this issue can be caused by a number of things. Are you running the latest version of ZoneAlarm? Are you running any P2P applications that might be opening a ton of ports on your machine at the same time?

No P2P and I believe I am up to date on the Zone Alarm...

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue on any of my test machines, I'm not sure what else this could be. It sounds like something is interfering with the network communication, I would lean towards any firewall software you are using. :(

In an effort to cleanup the DisplayFusion forum, this topic is being locked and archived because it applies to an older version of DisplayFusion. If you are using the latest version of DisplayFusion and would still like some assistance, please create a new topic and I'll be happy to help you out. There are also beta versions available for testing the latest features and bug fixes:

Thanks! :)
